Hey guys, I forgot to mention I saw Stevie's dog (not sure which one) I was standing by the handicap gate talking to this guy letting people in and out. It was also the back stage entrance. The guy opens the gate and this chick walks out (dont think it was Karen) with this dog on a leash! I said to myself that's got to be Stevie's dog. Looked like the breed she has, and who else would take there dog for a walk in a concert venue, and it came from the back stage entrance!

Stevie Nicks at the Santa Barbara Bowl
Fleetwood Mac’s Leading Lady Proves She Still Knows How to Rock
Monday, August 9, 2010

The only thing more captivating than watching thousands of hardcore Stevie Nicks fans mill around in one place is watching the woman herself, who, at 62, still sounds—and looks—as remarkable as ever. Clad in the requisite all-black ensemble and with a truckload of bedazzled scarves at her disposal, the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman delivered a powerful, emotive, and at times downright rockin’ set to throngs of fans and lookalikes at the Santa Barbara Bowl this past Wednesday night.
Stevie Nicks at the Santa Barbara Bowl

Taking the stage as the sun began to set, Nicks wasted no time plowing through the hits. First came “Fall from Grace” from 2001’s Trouble in Shangri-La, then the pulsating rhythms of “Outside the Rain” from 1981’s Bella Donna. Still, it was the night’s third offering, Fleetwood’s timeless “Dreams,” that truly injected the magic into Nicks’s set. Flanked by a 9-piece backing band, Nicks postured and gestured like the ethereal alter ego of her heyday, stretching her voice to reach the high highs and the gravelly lows that many singers her age would have long ago reworked. Shortly thereafter, Nicks took to the mike for a moving salutation of a different variety, noting that the reason she had orchestrated Wednesday’s show was because of a dear, ailing family friend.

“This is Cecelia’s house tonight,” she bellowed before addressing the eight-year-old girl directly. “Baby girl, this is your show. Rock hard, because she’s out in the audience.”

Throughout the night, the youngster, who is currently being treated for a rare form of soft tissue cancer, received a good deal of shout-outs from the stage and applause from the crowd, including a late-set dedication of the Fleetwood favorite “Landslide.” But perhaps more importantly, the occasion served to break down Nicks’s almost untouchable iconic status, humanizing her for her goodwill efforts (her night’s salary went toward Cecelia’s medical bills) even as fans basked in her vocal prowess.

And it was that prowess that ultimately stole Wednesday’s show. Minus a few short costume (read: shawl) changes, Nicks belted out the hits (“Gold Dust Woman,” “Rhiannon,” “If Anyone Falls,” “Edge of Seventeen”) for nearly two straight hours, never looking or sounding even the slightest bit worn. She cheered along with the rapt crowd, (believably) gushed about how much fun she was having, and made sure her set was jam packed with the stuff that the fans came to hear. Still, it was the selfishly selected slow jam, “How Still My Love,” that shone the brightest. Against a backdrop of twinkling stars, Nicks belted the oft forgotten cut off of her first solo record, and nearly brought the house down with her big vocal leaps.

By night’s end, it was an almost-solo performance of “Love Is” that convincingly re-crowned Nicks as queen, leaving plenty of women in flowy skirts, mile-high boots, and draping shawls convinced that there was still plenty to come from their long held musical idol.

Did anybody by chance get 'How Still My Love' on video at all for this show or the last one?

Live Show Review: Stevie Nicks at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Santa Barbara
by: L Paul Mann

Stevie Nicks
August 4th at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Santa Barbara, CA

It was Rolling Stone that gave 62-year-old Stevie Nicks, the moniker “The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll.” Nicks, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has sold over 100 million records over her career as a solo artist and with ‘70s superstars Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac is one of the most successful touring bands of all time, playing a slew of radio hits in true innovative jam band style, with some songs extended to a 20-minute orgy of rock. The key to the success of the band was Nicks’ characteristic contralto voice mixed with former lover Lindsey Buckingham’s piercing guitar solos and his own unique vocals. The pair played off each other, often in a drug-induced trance, in perfect sync with the mid-‘70s carefree lifestyle.

While Buckingham went on to a solo career emphasizing the hard-core jam and guitar wizardry of his former band, Nicks took on the role of rock ‘n’ roll diva, playing the more ballad oriented songs of Fleetwood Mac. At the same time she built her own impressive library of solo hit songs. Nicks is poised to release her first solo record in 10 years, which may prove to be one of her greatest recordings. Collaborating with songwriting legend Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame, the album has been eagerly anticipated by the music industry and fans alike.

The sultry diva made a special stop on August 4th at the Santa Barbara bowl, her only California stop on her impromptu six-city mini-tour. Appearing in front of an impressive ensemble of veteran rock musicians, she appeared larger than life, the consummate iconic rock star. The crowd seemed captured and mesmerized from the moment she began to sing until the moment she stepped offstage, two hours and scores of hits later. Nicks pranced, danced, and swayed to the powerful rhythms of the band, and chatted and joked at ease with the audience between songs. Occasionally she would shuffle offstage, appearing with yet another characteristic vintage scarf or trademark hat. Each garment seemed to represent a different emotion as the singer entwined herself and her bandmates in mythical poses.
The show proved to be an emotional event on many levels for local fans of the Nicks. First and foremost, the event was a benefit for an eight-year-old local resident named Cecilia, who is battling a rare form of cancer. Nicks, who has known the family for several years, arranged to perform at the Bowl and donate her salary for the event to help the family. Stevie Nicks has always nursed a persona of a wiccan-like sorceress, with her trance-like dancing and twirling of sensuous garments. It seemed fitting that she perform a concert for a sick little girl to transfer her immense energy and inspire hope for the guest of honor and her family. The concert was an emotional moment for many aging fans in the audience, who sought transference of youthful energy from pleasant memories of a bygone era. Towards the end of the show, Nicks methodically proceeded across the front of the stage locking hands with countless fans, then she slowly went around to her army of accomplished musicians and touched each one in a special embrace, seeming to transfer the energy from the audience to the band. The band played a blazing finale of “Rock and Roll”, a fitting tune from another ‘70s legend Led Zeppelin, while the video background portrayed scenes from vintage concerts. As a beautiful but cool summer night descended on the Bowl, Nicks returned for one last beautiful love song ballad, “Love Is”, that emanated through the amphitheater like magic.

Since my last post, I photographed Los Lobos, Steve Miller and Stevie Nicks. Nothing super special as far as the photos go... I was stuck at the sound-board for most of them. Los Lobos did deliver the good though and... let us up close ...

This article is awesome! 14 songs!!!! We have not had this much new music in forever. And, none of these songs are not written by Stevie. I think Trouble in Shangri La had 2 or 3 non-Stevie songs. So this is good news!

And, I love that she makes it a point to say this is NOT her "goodbye album".

Review: Stevie Nicks
8/4/10 at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Santa Barbara, CAEmmanuel Itier
Film Editor The night was young, the air was fresh and moistened, the people were clamming their inner joy, and The Goddess, Stevie Nicks, lifted us high in the sky and for an eternal ride. May it Rock!

From the beginning of the show, Stevie Nicks got us on our feet and we were dancing as if the entire Santa Barbara Bowl was a single stage rocked by a single voice. United in pure cheers, we couldn’t stop, and even when The Goddess graced away backstage and the lights came back, we kept rocking and rolling down the avenues of a life transformed by the vivid music and images that had softly kissed our souls. Yes, listening to Stevie Nicks is like being touched by an Angel — you do grow your own set of wings and you take off in the heavens above. Full of divine and genuine inspiration was this concert, as Stevie dedicated this special evening to a young eight-year-old girl hurt by cancer. We pray that our bounded love that night not only sent some warm profits to this little girl but that our positive souls and energy did indeed kill many cancer cells in the frail body of this child. I know together, as One, we can solve all cancers, all diseases, all miseries. If only we, the people of the Earth, would agree to focus on our common humanity instead of pointing out our silly appearances of differences.

For now, we’re waiting with eagerness for our Dear Goddess Stevie to release her new album that has been produced by my good friend Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics) who gave us a few songs for our upcoming movie, The Invocation. Stevie gave us all hope that night, and we hope you’ll also join the peace movement to make our planet a better place, with music and words, singing and dancing. One word and the world is alive!

Paul Mann: Stevie Nicks Plays Emotional Set at Santa Barbara Bowl
'Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll' connects with fans and her band in a benefit concert at the Bowl for a little girl with cancer

It was Rolling Stone magazine that gave 62-year-old Stevie Nicks the moniker “The Reigning Queen of Rock and Roll.” Nicks, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has sold more than 120 million records over her career as a solo artist and with 1970s superstars Fleetwood Mac.

When she joined the group in 1975 with her former lover, guitar guru Lindsey Buckingham, she was categorized as the most beautiful rock star of the time. Fleetwood Mac was one of the most successful touring bands of all time, playing a slew of radio hits in true innovative jam band style, with some songs extended to a 20-minute orgy of rock. The key to the success of the band was Nicks’ characteristic contralto voice mixed with Buckingham’s piercing guitar solos and his unique vocals. Appearing in front of an impressive ensemble of veteran rock musicians, she appeared larger than life — the iconic rock star. The crowd seemed captured and mesmerized from the moment she began to sing until the moment she stepped offstage — two hours and scores of hits later.

The devilish diva pranced, danced and swayed to the powerful rhythms of the band, and chatted and joked at ease with the audience between songs. Occasionally she would shuffle offstage, appearing with yet another characteristic vintage scarf or trademark hat. Each garment seemed to represent a different emotion as the singer entwined herself and her band mates in mythical poses.

Toward the end of the show, Nicks methodically proceeded across the front of the stage, locking hands with countless fans, seeming to make that enigmatic connection to transfer energy from the crowd. I thought they performed Love Is with just piano and the girls. Waddy and Jimmy are playing in that shot.
