2 Questions about SYW CD Booklet

(1) It has John down as playing 'black keys'. Is that an in-joke or an actual instrument? I'm assuming the former.

(2) The photo credits list "Hands 1991" - What the..? Then it's definitely not the four members of the band. How odd. Why 1991? Was that a big year for hands?

"Hands 1991" is the name of the photograph by Keith Carter on the last page of the LE SYW booklet (the photo showing hands reaching towards each other... also used for the Peacekeeper promotion).
