As a relatively new obsessive fan that’s never been to a Stevie show, I always love hearing stories about her wild days. I’ve heard some interesting things about some of Stevie’s encounters with security guards. For instance, accounts about her giving tongue lashings to guards after she’s caught them mistreating fans. I’m especially curious about the stories of her jumping off the stage and attacking guards who were getting violent with fans. It would kind of be really awesome if that actually happened.
I thought I would start with one incident that most definitely happened: “If you **** with my people, I’m going get real ****ing angry.” Girl's got a mouth on her. Let’s hear your tales about Stevie and her relationship with show security!

It's not really an attacking story, but back in Oklahoma in '83 there was an interesting event that occurred. It seems the stage was somehow falling apart and the crowd wasn't helping the situation. Stevie did "Stand Back" and was telling the crowd they were going need to stand back. She then left the stage and Joe Walsh (who was the opener) comes out and tells the crowd that Stevie really wants to do the show, but if they don't move back she won't. Eventually she came back out and did the rest of the show. However, she totally muffed the beginning of "Leather & Lace" by starting the song by doing the second verse. She then stopped and said "Wait, Don's not here, let's try this again" and the started the song over again.
Then I think it was in Florida in '96 that the crowd was moving closer and security was pushing them back and all Stevie said was "LEAVE THEM ALONE!" |

During the SYW tour, when the fight broke out in the audience, Stevie was not only mad with the person who started the fight (giving the crowd the stare of death), but she was also mad at security. I'm not sure why, because she didn't speak to the audience. But I think it was because security might have made the fracas worse when they came in to stop the fight and just started strong-arming everyone in the vicinity.
When Stevie was walking off stage, she cursed at the security on the side where her ramp to the backstage area was. I mean, I couldn't hear what she said to them, as she was not near any mic at that time, but she was yelling in their direction and, lip reading, I saw at least one expletive fly. Michele |

Where did you hear that? I know about her getting grumpy with them and telling them to back off on several occasions, but I seriously cannot see her going all Axl Rose like that. I just can't picture her getting that physical, particularly with the stories of her getting miffed at FANS for being physically violent as well as security. Not saying it's not true or whatever, just super curious about this one.

Please tell us about it! What was it exactly that made her mad?
Quote:
"In my heart, the love that I have for the people that I play for and write songs for, those kids that I jump off the stage and attack security guards for... they matter so much to me that's it's difficult for anything else to matter to me." Of course, she might have been exaggerating. But it would be really awesome if she actually did it. Imagine a tiny ball of chiffon and lace flying off the stage, landing on your back, and beating you with a silenced tambo! ![]()

But yeah, even if she was exaggerating, the visual is fantastic. Watch out, security - mess with fans when the miracle is happening, and Stevie bounces off the stage at you. She's the keeper of the peace up in this bitch! Perhaps she also has a battle cry reserved for such occasions, like, "TWICE AS MUCH, INTENSIFIED, MOFO!" "STAND BACK!" would also work, of course, but as you may have deduced, I am on a "Fall From Grace" kick lately. ![]()

There was an indecent with a fan September 9 1983 Colt State Park Show in Bristol Rhode ( not Connecticut).. a fan was trying to get her attention by yelling her name ..(think stewie ma ,ma , ma . ma .. ) when that did not work he was throwing fruit at her ,,
( it was a state park and we were allowed to bring in drinks and coolers) any way Stevie who was higher than jebus started yelling at him , he throw a piece of pineapple at her and it was on I don't know what she said exactly ( she was high ,,even when she was singing it was babble but she did say clearly I AM COMING DOWN AND KICKING YOUR F**ING ASS! . and proceeded to try and climb down off the stage .. there was no security ( well college kids hired by frank j roussu the promoter) ,,so the crowd started to boo the guy her road crew pulled her back up she was half dangling off the stage.. the guy fled leaving his stuff she took a break and the show went on Last edited by olive; 08-09-2010 at 09:33 AM.. "I AM COMING DOWN AND KICKING YOUR F**ING ASS! "
Hahahahahah. Little 5'1 Stevie Nicks, and at that point in her career she could still really kick high, with boots on, that would HURT!!! |

Speaking of pineapples, I also heard a story about her chucking a (prop?) pineapple at some guy in the crowd who was shouting sexually inappropriate things at her. I think tiny Stevie could've seriously kicked some ass. She seems scrappy. "LIGHTNING STRIKES, BETCH!" Just picture her on some giant muscleman's back as he spins around in circles trying to shake her her off. And those boots are deadly weapons. ![]()

I was Stevie's security gaurd when Tom Petty and her came on tour a couple of years ago. She was very very nice to me, but I do remeber she was walking around with some big curlers in her hair talking on the cell phone to her mom and a gentalman was taking pictures of her. She got off the phone and did that look of death thing and yelled at him telling him he was rude for doing that and that if he wanted a picture to ask and wait politely until she was off the phone. Then asked me and another gaurd to confiscate his camera and take the pics off. Afterwards she thanked me, and I walked her to the stage. I was in awe the whole time, she was the first major star to gaurd.
