You're right about Shelby not being a superstar, but if they were starting today Shelby has a more promising future. Even if you could give Stevie back 20 years. In other words, Stevie's not really a superstar anymore. No more platinum albums for her. In today's market probably not even Gold for new material. As much as I like her, especially her first three albums; she hasn't put out a really good album in the last two decades. |

Dave's 2nd tweet:
"Look for more details in an In The Studio piece I will write soon for Rolling Stone. I'll keep you posted here when to expect that." I asked him to give us a hint on when, as I'm sure it will be when the album comes out. |

Hopefully Stevie will come around to the importance of online marketing because she's not going to get much of it in other places. A lot of people don't even listen to the radio anymore. Maybe Dave can work his magic and knock a wee bit of sense into her head. He should drive home the point that it's free marketing, which is the best kind! How can she object to that?
I beg to differ! And I don't think I'm the only one. Trouble in Shangri-La was a strong album, and there are a number of people who place it up there with Bella Donna and Wild Heart.

This is kinda scary when you think about it... since she clearly knows about YouTube, she probably knows about all of the crap that's out there... in particular, those creepy photo montages. But most importantly, YouTube has been quite the place to go find unreleased songs and demos of hers. She must be pretty pissed about that. It's no wonder that she assumes that everyone is downloading her music for free and that nobody will buy it.

Just curious - what's "creepy" about a photo montage? I mean unless the photos are those deer-caught-in-headlights / eyes-closed-on-flash / high-as-a-kite / drunk-off-her-a** shots then I don't see a problem. Some of those beat the heck out of the crazy '80 videos.

If she doesn't do new songs, it will be because she does not WANT to. Saying "I'd love to but don't want them on YouTube" is so odd. What SHOULD worry her would be if she sang the new songs and they did NOT wind up on YouTube! "People care about my new songs, OH NO!" YouTube would help her far more than it would hurt her, as many of you have pointed out. "Oh I'd just love to go on a diet but I'm afraid I'd lose some weight!"-- that makes about as much sense- She should be glad that people care enough - or would care enough- to give her new material exposure in a way that radio doesn't anymore. Get with YouTube, Stevie! I don't want this to sound like a Stevie-bash. I really like her, always have, always will. |

Yeah in a rational reality that makes perfect sense Nikolaj, but this is Stevie's reality
("this is not the world, not the world not the real world"), not sure what she is smoking these daze, but she is def. old school all the way, and surrounds herself with such. |

I think it's ironic. The same people who troll youtube for every possible Stevie/FM related video are the same people who are going to be at the store or online buying any new material within the first 5 minutes it is commercially available. And probably buying more than 1 copy. But that is probably common knowledge amongst us the fans and not anyone in the music industry.
