Leon Russell's "first album" (the Blue one)....with "Delta Lady", "A Song For You", "Roll Away The Stone" etc. The one with Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, George Harrison, Ringo, Dave Mason, Delaney & Bonnie & Friends (most of whom became "Derek & The Dominos") and a few lesser known Rolling Stones backin' him up. You know...THIS one:

My pa used to play this album while I was a-bouncin' on his knee!

I'm just about to finish listening to the Rolling Stone's Exile On Main St. for the first time.

Personally, I think it's really too much of a good thing. I'll have to listen to it again when I get chance.

On the aforementioned Leon Russell CD, there's a bonus track with Leon, Eric Clapton, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts & Mick Jagger playing an early run through of a LEON RUSSELL composed song called "I Can't Seem To Get A Line On You"...which was released on Exile On Main Street as a JAGGER/RICHARDS tune called "Shine A Light". So, can anyone tell me how Leon got shut out of composer credits on the Stones album? (from what I've read, that's the exact reason Mick Taylor quit the band...he wrote a bunch of stuff and never got songwriter credits.)

Joni Mitchell - Hejira (1976) - an underrated record in her catalogue.

I really, really need to get this album! I love A Song For You - and I include the Carpenters version in that, it's gorgeous.

Right now I'm listening to Rodney Crowell - Ain't Living Long Like This (1978) and have just finished listening to Lowell George's only solo album Thanks, I'll Eat It Here.

Sometimes, I listen to this song 500 times in a row. Because I can't help it.

All the same, baby. All the same.

Oliver - Good Morning Starshine (abbreviated)

"Hair" (the motion picture, based on the famous musical) was on HBO today, which got me to thinking... is there any other musical that spawned as many Top 40 chart hits as "Hair"? Its got to be an unprecedented record. I mean...

"Easy To Be Hard"
"Good Morning Starshine"
"Aquarius"
"Hair"

Definitely a touchstone of late 60's pop, regardless.

Grease is the word.

You're The One That I want -(#1 Billboard).
Hopelessly Devoted To You (#3 Billboard).
Summer Nights ---------------(#5 Billboard).
Greased Lightning -----------(#47 Billboard).

Not counting :
The Grease Megamix (#25 Billboard Album Cut).

Grease is the only one that popped into my mind.
Thank you Google for the chart info.

One last thing about Grease. I saw it at a DRIVE-IN.

"Greased Lightning" is okay, but I prefer "Gas Guzzling" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEtDxkt8arU.
