I'd like to think Stevie would perform one or two new songs, but I think it's extremely unlikely. Remember she did a few live shows in the latter part of 2000 and at one concert in September of that year, she commented that the "new" album (Trouble In Shangri-La) was finished. However, even though all the songs had been written and recorded, she still didn't attempt any of them on stage.
The latest album isn't finished - depending on who you listen to, either half of it is done or else it's close to completion - so it seems probable that not even a tracklisting has been decided as yet. There is also the other question of whether Stevie has laid down her vocals or not - I'm wondering if that photo of her listening to the rough mixes was on the last night or perhaps earlier during the recording sessions?
I'm also curious about David Wild's (Rolling Stone writer) comments about the songs being "deeply personal" and featuring "lots of ghosts (and) vampires" if the vocals haven't been laid down as yet. It's possible he's listened to the demos as well or perhaps read some lyric sheets, but he was commenting on the "work in progresss" so that would suggest that Stevie has perhaps recorded at least some of the vocals. Is anyone able to clarify the situation?

That answers it for me. She is not going to perform any new songs.

Stevie has said that you can't do new songs because the people won't know them and will just sit there. She then usually tells the story of the shows the Mac did in 1976 where they did some of the songs from "Rumours" and how people just didn't know the songs so they didn't go over very well.
Stevie really has no sense of time. At that point there were still a lot of people going to see them that were fans of "Hypnotized" and "Oh Well" etc. So they didn't want to hear these songs by these new people they didn't know.
At the same time Stevie did "Gold & Braid" on the Bella Donna tour and that song was never released and it seemingly went over very well.
History tells us that she won't do anything new because Stevie is still very much living in the '70's. However I have a feeling she might really shake things up at these shows.

Shoot me for saying it if you like but whatever.

On their tour of the UK which finished last week, Blondie had a split set. They did many of the hits, a few album tracks that weren't singles, some solo tracks off Debbie's Necessary Evil album and about 6 brand new tracks off their forthcoming album and the new ones went down phenomenally well. I know that the 'hardcore' fans at the concert I went to were making up the front row along with myself, because they're friends of mine and we queued together. However, when the band played the new material the rest of the crowd behind us went wild. They completely and utterly loved it.

I really think it'd do Stevie's new album a ton of extra good if she did play a few of the new songs as long as she introduced them, telling the audience about the album. That way they'll get excited and share her, and the big time fan's, excitement. She can do it and pull it off and we all know that

After reading and thinking the last couple of days,I had to breakdown and vote, and I voted No.Like said she probably feel upset with the audiences reaction after playing new tunes,But I hope I'm wrong and she will sneak them on to the setlist.I rather hear the new tunes then the cover tunes .Also I hope she will shed some light on these projects that are floating around on Twitter and other sources.
I'm bringing my friends to the Connecticut show like I've been doing for the last few tours. They loved the last Stevie/FM concerts .I think they would have no problem if Stevie trys out her new tunes.I will print out the setlist if it comes on here or Nicksfix to give to my friends before the show.

You bring up a good point, if she feels the material is that good, then there should be no problem introducing it at the shows. Stevie CAN do it, the problem is for whatever reason she's afraid to. This is what I've been saying all along, she just needs to go and do the show SHE wants to do and lead the audience where she wants.

I think Stevie has laid down her vocals for the at least 7 tracks that are finished. I think what he means by "rough mixes" is exactly that. You sit down and record a song and lay down the vocals and make it a song. But then you go back and clean it up and mix it more. Remember in Destiny Rules how Stevie and Lindsey kept bitching over who was going to mix the songs? I believe they are at that stage right now. Songs are done, but have yet to be mixed to perfection.

According to Dave Stewart (who produced the album and wrote 7 songs with Stevie for the album) on July 7, 2010 (4 days ago):

Quote:
After a hard day's night in the studio , Stevie Nick's still focused and listening intently to the rough mixes to take home , music all finished next step harmonies and some killer lead vocals

TrueFaith, those comments are the reason I am puzzled. I'm wondering if that was an up to date tweet or if it was simply a caption to go alongside the photo that was possibly taken prior to the end of the sessions? When Dave talks about Stevie laying down "some killer lead vocals" my immediate assumption is that she has already done these because he's been able to comment on them. Of course, it could well be that he is just expecting her to be strong vocally but his comments imply that the work has been done. As stated previously, I also wonder what David Wild heard since he seems to be commenting on the lyrical content of the songs in his tweets.
This also poses the question of when Stevie (and the girls) will do the vocals and who will be there to record/produce them? Will Glenn Ballard step in at this point?; will Dave resume work with Stevie after his Nashville sessions are over (which could be very soon given the rate he works at)?; will Stevie spend the next few weeks just rehearsing for the upcoming live shows or will she be furiously writing additional songs or selecting and refining tracks from the vault? I'm curious as to when the "next step" will occur.

I just went over to the The Nicks Fix to check out Stevie's upcoming dates and they are as follows:

2010 Tour Dates
August 6 - Harveys in Lake Tahoe
August 25 -Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY.
August 27 - Trump Taj Mahal Arena, Atlantic City
August 28 - Foxwoods Resort Casino/MGM, Mashantucket, CT

Does anyone know if these are correct and complete? If they are and no additional shows are to be added, I'm surprised at the gap of 19 days between the first and second dates. I'm wondering if she has studio time booked for the period August 7 - 24? I imagine that Dave would most definitely be done with the Nashville sessions by then so it makes sense that work could resume at that stage.
I have no idea of the venues but are these small shows? If so, Stevie may just try something new after all, perhaps during the last three shows (which are all very close together)? Once again, I consider it very unlikely, but if the shows were intimate and she was raring to go, she might just try something new over a cover song? Jesus I hope so.
