With Dave leaving next week to Nashville along with his newly formed band to begin to work on his solo cd, that leaves Stevie to complete the CD by herself, or Ugh another producer (insert cynicism)! If Stevie's past history with multiple producers becomes another time held tradition of delays and shelved material, then there is justification in having some trepidation.

RAL - delayed over a year while producers came and went, changing direction several times shelving an entire cd worth of material in doing so.
Street Angel - delayed almost a year while Stevie detoxed after which she re-produced along w. Thom Panuzio and changed the song selections for final release.
TISL- delayed over a year while producers came and went, with Stevie changing direction at one point recording with R&B producers Dallas Austin & rumored Rodney Jerkins.
Wild Heart was also delayed more than one year. In an interview she claimed it was ready and "who says I have to wait a whole year?" A clip from the interview ways played just before After the Glitter Fades was released as a single.

"The new album will be done, you know, it's just a matter of when the time is right and I think everyone understands that in my life you must let Stevie go and do what is right for soul...." ~ Stevie Nicks 1987 regarding the release of "The Other Side Of The Mirror" (which wouldn't come out for another two years!!!)

If they are they recording the album now, the EARLIEST we will see it is Spring of next year. But more likely it will be next summer. It won't be before the spring because Stevie doesn't like traveling in the winter. But if the album follows a normal Stevie path, we won't see the album for another five years.

He actually said "back in the studio today 7 songs are done and sounding EPIC !!!"
Keyword: done
If seven songs are done and they are only doing 7, then why are they going back in the studio?
I think he means 7 songs are completed and sounding amazing, and they are spending the rest of the week finishing up whatever tracks they have left.

Despite my cynicism creeping in, I really am trying hard to remain optimistic about this new cd being on schedule by either a fall release date (earliest) or late Spring release (like TISL). And with very enthusiastic tweets by Dave calling the recording "EPIC" and "amazing", It does seem like she/they are on a roll & things are going really well, so that's why I was a bit disconcerted about Dave leaving next week to Nashville to begin his own solo recording while only having 7 songs completed. I was hoping that they would have at least 10 to 12 songs in the can, as he mentioned they were going to try and finish up recording in June. Perhaps, Stevie will use the majority of July to began rehearsals for her upcoming August shows with her band, and after they are completed She and Dave will rejoin in the Studio late Aug/Sept or in the fall to finish up the recordings (fingers crossed).

I would speculate she would have to record around 15 to 16 songs to whittle it down to a solid 12 to 13 song final CD. Thats around the amount Stevie's alway done on every single solo cd, leaving many on the cutting room floor. I am leaning to the fact that so far she has recorded all new material written by herself or co-written with Dave thus far, and that perhaps all she needs to do is flesh it out with some good old demos like some of my faves; "Space Needle" "All The Beautiful Worlds", "She Loves Him Still", "Julia", "The Dealer" (with The Heartbreakers) "Chanel Chanel" & "She Calls Him Missing" to name a few off the top of my head as lead contenders.....

What do you all think????
I wish Stevie would offically mention something soon. The Title of the CD....anything.....maybe she waiting till her concert dates, and will do some local press around the time of the concerts and drop some info then. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If it were not for having all her demo's I would have gone stark crazy mad by now. It's offiially been 7 yrs since we have gotten brand new studio recordings from Stevie....And 10 yrs solo. That's crazy!!!! we must all be going crazy by now

"Now you tell me that I'm crazy... it's nothing that I didn't know!"

I think you're spot on with most everything you said... she's gotta record about twice as many songs as she currently has before the project can even begin to wrap up. I think it's a GOOD thing she records more than she uses... she can cherry pick the best ones that way .

I've gotta go with skuncles regarding a release date though... absolute earliest is mid next year. That's something I've been saying for about 6 -8 months or more now, and I still stand by it. It wouldn't surprise me if the album (even if it's on track) got pushed back to fall of 2011. If she decides to shake it up and hit the reset button, it could be mid 2012... but I've got a sneaking suspicion the Mac has plans starting in 2012 of some form or another. Probably wishful thinking .

I think we all forgot about Glen Ballard. According to an earlier tweet from Dave, they are in his studio, so he is also most likely co-producing the album, and will take over as the "full-time" producer once Dave leaves for Nashville.

Here's a pic and the tweet from Dave in Glen's studio during a recording session with Stevie:

For some reason, I really see her doing that.

Had The Wild Heart been released then it would have conflicted completely with Mirage .It would have made no sense to attempt to promote a solo release and a Fleetwood Mac album virtually simultaneously.

Is that a crystal vision you're having or is there a real farewell tour in the works?

Crystal Vision no doubt, but I too see this being an extremely likely event.
Fleetwood Mac Farewell Tour 2012-13 (along with a last album too , Rumours tribute too? haha )

Apparently they are still recording right now.

Jessie Malakouti just tweeted this:

Recording at village today- dope ass studio, never worked here before... Stevie Nicks is in next room.... crazy cool.
