You sure do enjoy posting stuff like this dont you Luke. >>>someone wrote.

Um. Not nice to be not nice to Luke, he also will often 'stick up' for Nicks, and his insight into the concert industry has made for some of my favorite reading on The Ledge.
Not that Luke needs anyone to defend him, but I don't think he takes any joy in reporting less than stellar numbers (he also reports the well-attended shows). But when someone writes 'she always sells out Jones Beach' when it's untrue, personally, I think it makes more sense to snipe at the person with the misinformation, than to say Luke "enjoys" telling what the actual truth was. I was at the Jones Beach flood show, either in '07 or '08. I think it was 2007. The videos from the show look gorgeous on youtube, but that was about the most miserable concert experience I've had, wringing out socks, sitting on top of the chair, a good, very pricey pair of shoes ruined, and she sang all of twelve songs in total, that night. And yes, it was about half empty, or half full. Some 7,000+ plus people turning out to hear Nicks do 12 songs is still a lot of people! I think the sizes of audience she draws is quite respectable, in some ways, amazing. It's just that often the venues chosen were just too large. I think we will be seeing less mistakes of that kind now, and having the actual, real numbers only help in booking her at the appropriate-sized venues.
Chris Isaak opened and walked through the floods.
Though, at the time, I was really unhappy, I still had some fun. I know I wouldn't have the 2 extra shirts and 2 hoodies, I went though a lot of $$$ at the swag stands trying to stay warm that night! What I really needed were some Stevie Nicks socks and I probably wouldn't have been so cranky!
*EDIT PS- I just re-read Ragsrocalot's original post, and Ragsroc, I'm sorry- - I've liked seeing her at that venue, also. Great atmosphere, just had the one above time (out of several) where the atmosphere was a little too much! Didn't mean to be unkind, it was more to the person who had responded, who maybe didn't even mean the comment to Luke in the 'shoot the messenger' way I took it, because good points were brought up by that author.
Sorry to all, and to all, a good night...

I agree. I want to know the numbers and Luke's cool.

omy that would have been a snapshot of all snapshots: your wringed socks on a chair...maybe a look of pout on your face.

Default Stevie @ SB Bowl

Does anyone know why this tour stop has not been officially announced on her web site? Especially with the tickets going on sale this weekend.

It's listed on Ticketmaster right now so that's pretty official to me.

I'm sure nicksfix is just lagging and will have it up anytime now.

Her site isnt very fast ... Germany wasnt listed for the unleashed tour as well.
I was already busy planning a trip to England to see them when my Dad called and told me that there are already tickets for Germany to buy.

usually, when there is a presale, TM will show such even though there isn't the option yet to purchase.
I checked around various sites, SBB and http://www.nederlanderconcerts.com/ but no presales...yet.

Yes Stevie's hightide Jones Beach show was a emotional rollercoaster ride for me,one minute it looks like the show was going to close.or whatever,I wonder how meny people walked out that night before Stevie went on.If this show wasn't a Stevie concert,I probably would of been one of them. But its Stevie,The Ocean tides dont stop us fans ,so I walked through the knee deep water with my old cowboy boots to my awesome seats and by the time the tides went out I had chance to shake Stevies hand .ok i'm sorry to drift off topic.Ok back on track.I glad she is still adding shows on this tour.

Knee deep water!?? I was under the impression from other people's reviews that the water came in during the concert. Or actually it was the rain that came in. I heard it was raining so hard that the venue flooded. So you are saying there was already a flood when you arrived?

That's how I remember it, the flood was there before Isaak started, the rain had stopped but ---drainage generators (sump pumps?) weren't working or they didn't have any, and during Chris' set, they weren't letting people down to their actual floor seats, those of us who had them. Prior to Stevie coming out, security grudgingly let us down to our seats but truthfully, I should have waited til security really wanted to let us down there. I never said a word complaining, but when saw others show their tickets and demand to be let to their seats, I followed, which I found out immediately I should not have done!
It was on Stevie's third song, their drainage system or whatever the hell it was kicked in,or maybe the tide just went out! So, that was good, and suddenly we weren't standing or crouching on the seats to avoid standing in water. By then, though, a lot of us were soaked from toe to knee just from walking to our seats. It was a June night, but WOW was it cold outside, and being soaked made it seem even colder. Ledge fans at the time loved the on-line photos of Stevie all bundled up, there were tons of rarely utilized wardrobe for her bundled up look on stage that night. I think at one point she even had on ear muffs. Don't quote me on that, though! I think the footage is still up on youtube.
And yes, I need to say I'm sorry to have gotten so 'off point' in this thread, it's great Stevie is playing Santa Barbara, one of the most beautiful areas I ever remember visiting in California. Grr, this is the Santa Barbara thread, I surely hope!

I dont remember what happen ,but I thought it was a super high tide that the security guy told me..btw "thunder only happens when its raining".Hum that rings a bell.Hehehehe....

I remember at one very cold Fleetwood Mac shows It was the SYW tour.I think it was the 50's or colder plus rain.Stevie was very cold there.I had my winter gear on,Hum I felt like it was Christmas in june and hoping that Stevie closed the show singing Silent Night..

Ok, on topic: Is Santa Barbara still gorgeous? I surely hope so, I recall in the 80s how Hollywood Boulevard had practically become a slum area, and then it got re-beautified. Would be hard to make SB a slum though, I remember it as rich, rich rich and quite breathtaking. Is it a mid-sized venue, 5 to 7,000 seater, or what?

Who all else is going to this show? I need to make a list and we should all meet up before or after the show, or both, whatever. I'd love to meet you guys. I'm definitely going to the Santa Barbara show.

I have the show on DVD. I don't recall ear muffs, but she wore a "hat thing" most of the show. It looked almost like a nun's habit. Then she pulled out this awesome leopard top hat for Edge. I've never seen that hat since but it was very cool.

Santa Barbara is still gorgeous.
The Santa Barbara Bowl seats 4,565.

Oh and Hollywood Blvd is still one major, crap dump, slum.
