Whole Lotta Love is good, but I like What Is and What Should Never Be more, but then again, my fave Zep tune at the moment is Since I've Been Loving You off III. |

DEFINITELY ! It's my favorite Zep tune too, maybe next to Going to California (don't know why). It's just beautiful, and Jimmy really shines on this song ! |

I never liked Going to California, but when it comes down to the calming acoustic stuff, I gotta go with Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Ten Years Gone, and The Rain Song.

. Yay, Babe I'm gonna leave you is beautiful, but since it's a cover, i prefer the others. Especially The Rain Song, and, well, Going to California . Oh, and Tangerine! |

Canada is not in the south!
Weeyuhd = McVie-ese, aka Brummie. |

Ok...talkin' Zep, eh? Ok....I'll drop a couple of pennies on that topic.
From their first album up to Physical Graffiti loved 'em like the Norse Gods they thought they were....from Presence onward, couldn't stand 'em. Pompous idiots putting out drivel. That lasted until about 4 months ago when I saw a Zep tribute band in concert. I was hooked on Zeppelin once again like I hadn't been since I was in Jr. High & High School...even completed my LZ CD collection in one fell swoop....even Presence & In Through The Out Door weren't as nauseous as I had once thought. But, what got me was the expanded Song Remains The Same and the fairly recent How The West Was Won live set....I never thought LZ was all that great live (especially after seeing them 10th row at the Long Beach Arena in '75)...the tribute band was 10x's better than I remember the REAL LZ being. Nope, the two live albums got me hooked again. I have to give SOME credit to my then 2 yr old grandson whose favorite DVD at Christmas 2008 was the Page & Plant Unledded that softened me up and got me at least open to listening to Led Zeppelin again.

Funny you mention How the West was Won. It's in this pile of CDs (OK, it's only 3, namely that, the Mac's 2 disc greatest hits, and the Beatles' White Album)sitting here by my desktop that I forgot to bring downstairs. Before I had gotten it, I had no idea as to what the mighty Zeppelin sounded live at all (they were together and did Live Aid long before I was born, Robert and Jimmy went out on tour when I was only 5 and probably watching Power Rangers, and when the O2 show in 07 went down, I didn't even know their stuff), but I was suitably impressed by their power and how well they did the songs. Hell, I found myself drumming along with Bonzo a few times. As for Song Remains the Same, I am definitely considering watching it on Netflix sometime soon and, despite the strange fantasy sequences, it does sound really cool. As for my collection of Zep CDs, I have their Early Days and Latter Days, II, and PG, but I definitely plan, over time, buying the whole collection, along with Bon Scott AC/DC. Speaking of AC/DC, do we have any fans of them here? I love the Bon Scott-era stuff, but Brian Johnson is good too. |

Stairway to Heaven is good, but it'd by no means, the best Zep song. Aside from WLL, other gems that are better include Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, Since I've Been Loving You, Rock and Roll...I could go on all day.

The live version of "No Quarter" on The Song Remains The Same is spectacular! Too bad they sold out "Rock & Roll" to Cadillac...that was at one time my favorite LZ song...but, too many TV commercials ruined it for me. Bonzo's intro to that still is killer...not very many cover band drummers can play it EXACTLY right.
