No Nikolaj said *avoids slings and arrows* after pointing out a dislike for Patti's voice (I think?) so I "picked up" my slings and arrows because I love her

I saw that book for RS at the store & went through it. Those best song lists and LP lists are a joke. We can all disagree with them & probably always will. I did see that GYOW was in there & its funny cause they show Stevie's picture & its actually from the HBO concert from '81 not 1977 picture. I kinda laughed about that...couldn't even get the timeline of the picture right. I used to long time ago get RS but I'd stopped that ages ago too. Most magazines are a joke right now. I don't like People or Ent Weekly none of that stuff ...its all crap really. Anyway, it doesn't matter what these people list as there top whatever.....you like what you like & thats really all that matters.....IMO anyway....

All their lists are pretty crappy, but the guitarist list is definitely the worst. The omission of Lindsey is bad...but there were other omissions and people who were place embarrassingly low or high. Eddie Van Halen is 70? David Gilmour 82? Jack White 17??!

They threw old school FM fans a bone at least with Peter Green at 38.

I'm so enjoying this! 'Slings And Arrows' actually was the original title for 'Rumours'-

And BC, I did say Patti can write and is well worth reading! I did write that I know Patti Smith is an untouchable!
That's respect!
And out of respect, I will not make the obvious snarky comment I want to, about you saying that I may not care for her voice!!

I just never realized she had one to like or dislike to begin with!

Dang. Sorry. Untouchable. Untouchable. She is.
PS. I must admit to really loving Smith's version of 'Because The Night' and how she sounds on it. Natalie Merchant's wasn't nearly as good. Love the production on Patti's version, too. Production, of course, was courtesy of one Jimmy Come Back Iovine, who imo, also produced the definitive, epic version of 'Sorcerer' on the Streets of Fire soundtrack.
From my Patti Smith friends, I have learned (thought I had learned?) that it's better not to say that you like her because of 'Because The Night' as it's considered "so uncool for you to only like that song by her, you're better off saying nothing about her at all".

You also forgot another appalling part of that list: Slash was nowhere to be found. I'm sorry, that guy deserves to be on that list, but knowing him, he probably had a snappy comeback.

Another one is Angus Young at 96 of all places and Kurt Cobain way-too-high-up (I think he was like 11).

Seriously, one would be foolish not to respect Patti Smith's status, her 70's NY dates are of legend.
BC, are you familiar with the late Gilda Radner, who was in the first seasons (or, 'series', for those in The UK) of 'Saturday Night Live?'
Gilda reportedly was very taken with Patti, influenced by attending Patti's NY shows, and she came up with this character as an edgy tribute to her. If you've never seen it, you may enjoy it.
