Lately I've been having trouble picking my favorite era of Stevie's solo career thus far. One part of me loves the perfection of the Street Angel era, and the other is in love with the Wild Heart times. With SA, you had great hair, an impeccable voice, and she just seemed to really enjoy herself. Also, the album is pretty darn good. But Wild Heart, she looked stunning from head to toe, her voice had matured, her career was probably at it's peak at this point, and she was wild, but not yet rockin

I'd have to say the best time to be a Stevie fan would be the Wild Heart era. Not like I was around back then, but I think it's the best. Stevie just released a great album. The live shows were amazing. She was a bit more out of it during RAL, which is fun to look back upon, but on the Wild Heart tour not only was she rocking, but she was a little more in tune of what was going on. She looked better during WH, too. I also think she had a the best connection with the fans at this time of her life. This seems like the time when she really started to talk about how she is giving up her life for us and the music.

I have to go with The Wild Heart, the live shows sound fantastic and the album is a little bit more daring than Bella Donna - that vocal on Wild Heart is incredible, she sang in ways we haven't seen before or since xD

Well, I can't vote, as The Wild Heart is the only solo album of hers that I've heard (her albums are hard to come by, so I'll have to place orders soon). However, I can say that I adore that album, and much preferred it to her compilation Timespace.

Ok this kinda poll is never easy....I picked BD era but I also 'love' the WH period too.....so I kinda wanna say BD/WH combined......I also love Mirror cause well thats when I stared collecting Mac/Stevie stuff too but didn't yet get to see her live solo til
'94 for SA.....than I'd say SA for the tour but not so much for the cd.....the cds ok but the tour rocked & it was my first Stevie solo tour as well. ( I did see Mac live for Mask in '90/but '94 was my first solo time & it was memorable.....)....loved Enchanted too....and than the 2 Voices tour with Don......the others are ok but those are my favorites.....I've went to other tours etc.....its ok to love what you love and theres nothing wrong with that........ ![]() ![]()

While I think Bella Donna was arguably her strongest album, I don't think it's her strongest solo era at all. She did so few shows, she relied on too many celeb friends for the album, and she really didn't seem to get her footing on being a solo performer until the Rock A Little tour, IMO. In the end, I chose the Street Angel era as my fav. The way she just came out swinging for that tour, their fiery vocals, the passionate performances... the crazy hair. I just love it. I think it's the last time we ever saw passion out of Stevie. I really love the album, too... yes, there are glaring weak points, but there are some really great songs on that album. I love the quirky Greta, the haunting title track, the rocking Love Is Like A River, just the whole back to basics rock goodness which was sorely needed following Other Side Of The Mirror. I tend to have a love of flawed things, of underdogs... maybe that's why I love this whole era so much.

Ahhh, yes i will always be an advocate for the crackhead, wild RAL Stevie! I would have given my arm and leg to see a RAL show!
Albumwise, though, STREET ANGEL FOREVERRRRR

Believe it or not, I have fond memories of the Timespace CD and Tour. It was the first concert I scored really close seats, 3rd row to the right a bit at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. It was also a time of uncertainty, was Stevie done with Fleetwood Mac? How long is she going to be mad at Mick for not giving her “Silver Springs” to put on Timespace? Looking back at the pics, Stevie was still heavy of course but I remember thinking how refreshed and alive she seemed at that show. She certainly looked better than towards the end of the Behind The Mask tour just a year earlier. Remember on the Red Rocks video during Stand Back when Stevie bends over and back real quick a few times along with the music? Well, she wasn’t doing that kind of thing on the 87 and 89 tours but she was doing it again that night and it just seemed she was getting back to her old self, and her hair rocked. I was with my friend George and girlfriend Angie (HA, yes a girlfriend). The 3 of us had a great time. George had this giant Panda Bear to give to Stevie for the Edge walk. When it was time for the walk, Stevie had collected an arm full of flowers and gifts and when she got to us, she put it all down, took the bear and started dancing with it in a circle and there was a big cheer. It really made our night. Oh, and we each wrote a letter to Stevie and tied all 3 of them with ribbon around the bear’s neck. Truly a great night.
As far as the CD, despite the fact it was during the Klonopin years, Stevie’s vocals on the 3 new songs were top notch. Her vocal on “Desert Angel” is one of the most soaring, passionate and heartfelt deliveries she’s ever done. |
