Nawww, you look pleased with yourself, and that makes you adorable, regardless of what you are wearing. Those are some badass hi-tops. Are they Vans?

Don't let Bret Michaels see your headband, though. He'll totally fight you for it, on account of he needs it to hold his weave in place, and you can't fight back, on account of he's all sick and junk. And because them lady jeans look like they might restrict mobility.

I think people should be able to rock whatever clothing they want without fear of what other people might say or think. I don't dress to make other people happy. I dress to make me happy. As long as you like what you're wearing and you feel good about yourself, f*ck 'em. If you are secure and confident, then you will look awesome regardless of what you are wearing.

I did have my own fair share of fashion mishaps, though. Like, one time, I had this sort of clear plastic pair of fake Birkenstocks? And they were really comfy? But ugly? So I thought the thing to do to fix them was wear them over top of a pair of purple socks with neon green bats all over them? And I was really wrong?

Or all those times I spent an hour in the bathroom before school, trying desperately to make my hair look like Patricia Morrison's but generally just coming out looking like Robert Smith on crack?

Don't even get me started on trying to perfect the goth makeup, because that was just painful for a long time. Or all those years in the late 80s, when I tight-rolled my jeans and then proceeded to stack about 6 pairs of slouch socks in varying colors over top. And then did them in reverse color order again on the other leg. And had a giant collection of neon plastic t-shirt slides. To match my New Kids on the Block t-shirts and neon stirrup pants.

Like, I swapped (most of) the chain-covered minis for pencil skirts that lace up the back with ribbon & D-rings. But fishnet & I are still good friends and corsets are still in regular rotation for special occasions.

Oh, and I did get over my teenaged self's worry about being too tall to wear heels! Now I live in heels. And I will loom over any dumb boys that are short & have a problem with that, Vulture Snoopy style, til they run away and cry.

I should like to read such a blog post. Let me know when you write it.

LOL...I love you

D'awww. Warm fuzzies!

Seriously, though - high school was pretty much torture for me. I'm a big girl - both tall and big-boneded. Even at my most athletic (I played volleyball for about 9 years), I was still big-boneded. I was far more interested in good music and reading books to even fake being concerned about the usual teenage drama llamas. There was just no way I was ever going to "fit," and I used to agonize over it. Then one day, I just decided to stop agonizing and keep doing my own thing and to hell with everyone else.

This did not always go over well, but I felt much better about myself.

Also, to keep from totally derailing this thread, here is a photo of me demonstrating to a friend how to Look Askance properly. This is not to be confused with Giving the Official Side-Eye, though, which is an entirely different animal.

Pretty picture!
You sound a bit like me - it took a while before I found a clique of friends that I really liked at high school (some of us are still good friends), and eventually I became pretty comfortable with myself. Then, more recently, I realised I was pure awesome, so... And you are too, now that I've imparted some of mine to you (a simple thank you will suffice). If you weren't already, of course, which evidence suggests may be the case.

I love your clothes! The shoes look great, as well. Anyone can wear anything as long as they feel confident in it, and you obviously do. I am strictly a T-shirt and jeans person. If I 'dress up', I feel like a fake!! I wear jeans, high tops, and picture tees day in and day out!

I'm most flattered! Perhaps I'll post a photo of me from my 21st last week with someone from my family soon... or perhaps Jenelle... anyway, I'll make a point of doing it tomorrow, okay?

Me too! My trusty (disgusting) blue converse, drainpipes and band shirts. I'm too lazy to dress up.

(I do have a photo that I took this morning, I'm uploading it now)

Going back to what Marissa, Miranda and others were talking about Smiling in photos. This is as close as I get

This is me too My version of dressing up is adding a button-up on top of the picture tee

Ahh! I love Vans High Tops, they just go great with everything. I haven't worn a headband in much too long. That zebra one got autographed by Family Force 5 so I have it hidden somewhere, right next to all of my other Warped Tour memorabilia

Annie, I love every single thing you just said in the past 24 hours on this thread. I would highlight favorites but it was all awesome.

And Georgie.... you are stunningly beautiful.

Me last night before my Swedish conquest (tha'ts a fun story for the JTIS thread):

I also have blue Converse high-tops (in reasonably good shape, considering they're about 15 years old). I have a slightly younger purple pair. I think my next ones will be green.
