It's boredom. What else have we got to do around here lately?

Gorgeous pics, Dani!

I remember my senior portraits. I don't have any of them scanned anymore, sadly, but they involved me in a trash strewn alley, wearing a lot of fishnet and looking unamused.

Which is to say, y'know, reflective of real life.

That was back when my hair was so long, I could sit on it. I also got voted "best dressed," so I had extra pics in the yearbook. That was rather surreal, because I had just spent all of my high school career getting harassed on a daily basis (by students and faculty alike) for my keen fashion sense (right after Columbine was a particularly rough period). So then all of a sudden, my senior year, when I was "cool" and everyone wanted to hang out with me and know where I got my clothes, I was very much like, "Quoi?"

Kids, man. They creep me out.

I took full advantage of the "best dressed" photo shoot, though, and made it memorable for all involved.

You two flatter me!

Annie.... I have a feeling I would've been your best amigo in high school. Your high school persona sounds a lot like my alter ego. I have 3 different interwoven personalities... they're interesting. I want to write a post on my blog about them one day.

I think we would've gotten along famously. Lawd, but I was all the time getting sent home for my clothes in high school, even when I was not breaking any dress-code rules. Doucherockets.

But my high school persona was not much different than my current persona, though, I don't think. Of course, I have toned down my day-to-day wardrobe a bit, because now I'm old. Like, I swapped (most of) the chain-covered minis for pencil skirts that lace up the back with ribbon & D-rings. But fishnet & I are still good friends and corsets are still in regular rotation for special occasions.

Oh, and I did get over my teenaged self's worry about being too tall to wear heels! Now I live in heels. And I will loom over any dumb boys that are short & have a problem with that, Vulture Snoopy style, til they run away and cry.

I should like to read such a blog post. Let me know when you write it.

I have always wanted to be this type of person, but never had the courage.
