I have really horrible taste in movies. I'm just putting that out there and letting you guys know I'm aware of it before you judge my choices. It's not that I can't appreciate a "good" movie, but that I like my film to be escapist. I just want something that takes me away to another world. That said:

1. Beauty and the Beast. Yes, the disney version.
2. Catch Me if You Can
3. The Pursuit of Happyness
4. All the President's Men
5. Witness for the Prosecution
6. You've Got Mail
7. Legally Blonde
8. The Break Up
9. The Life of David Gale
10. Monster
11. Boys Don't Cry
12. A Beautiful Mind
13. Nuremberg
14. Dirty Dancing
15. Rent
16. Mean Girls
17. The Virgin Suicides
18. Milk
19. JFK
20. Breakfast at Tiffany's
21. The Wizard of Oz
22. Sleepless in Seattle
23. The Holiday
24. Never Been Kissed
25. Ever After

I love all of the ones I quoted, but I can't believe someone else but Ever After in their top 25! I should have read yours before I did mine-- I had to go to Drew Barrymore's wiki page to remember what the title was. I love fairy tales

25 is a bit much for me right now 'cause I'm headed out the door. But here's ten.

1.) Star Wars.

2.) Return of the Jedi.

3.) Revenge of the Sith.

4.) All About Eve.

5.) Avatar.

6.) Anastasia (Yul Brenner version.)

7.) Kung-Fu Panda (very cute and entertaining).

8.) War of the Worlds (older version from the 50s.)

9.) "The X-Files Movie" (1998).

10.) Kenneth Branaugh's version of Hamlet. (and also his version of Henry V.)

I also just recently saw a great science fiction movie from the 70s called "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston. This is the same story as the movie "I Am Legend" which recently came out starring Will Smith. (There was also a version from 1964 starring Vincent Price, called "The Last Man on Earth." - They're all based on a novel called "I Am Legend" by someone named Richard Matheson which has received a lot of attention.)
Anyway I thought the Charlton Heston version was VERY good! The Will Smith version (i.m.o.) didn't really capture the emotional impact of the story. The 1964 version was also pretty good, for similar reasons. But Heston's version blew me away; I felt that it was VERY well-done!

First of all, The Man Who Fell To Earth is one of the weirdest movies ever. In a good way, since David Bowie can do no wrong.

Also, Maris, you WOULD like the Virgin Suicides. It's one of my favorites too.

I'm obsessed with film. I see 2+ movies in theatres a week and often drive around the bay area to do it. I'm actually going to 12 different films at the San Francisco International Film Festival within the next two weeks and I'm SO EXCITED.

In no particular order:
1. Stardust Memories (and anything Allen)
2. The Virgin Suicides
3. Stealing Beauty
4. The Hours
5. A Single Man
6. Dead Poet's Society
7. 8 1/2
8. The Hours
9. Life Is Beautiful
10. Doubt
11. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (and anything Kaufman)
12. Vertigo (and anything Hitchcock)
13. Fight Club (if only for Helena Bonham Carter!)
14. Scarface
15. Blue Velvet
16. Some Like It Hot
17. The Ghost Writer
18. An Education
19. The Hurt Locker
20. For My Father
21. Amelie
22. The English Patient (but probably just because I'm obsessed with ANYTHING related to that novel...)
23. Synecdoche, New York
24. Manhattan
25. Mary Poppins

I love this movie. It was also nominated for best picture, so no reason for embarrassment. I bought it on VHS, DVD, and am eagerly awaiting the Blu-Ray release. I hate the Cocteau version Stevie loves so much. I guess I'm just not that deep.

I love how wonderfully done Ever After is! I can't watch that movie without crying.

You love Beaches?? It's one of the best chick flicks ever! So sad!

I love the majority of the movies on your list, but these are some highlights:

Beauty and the Beast is amazing. I watched it a couple weeks ago at 2 in the morning and was comparing my life to Belle's. Bahahah pathetic, yes. I love watching Disney movies! After you've grown up a bit, you can see the story a different way than from what you saw as a little kid.

You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle = classic Meg Ryan movies (when Meg Ryan still looked like Meg Ryan).

The Holiday is perfect!! Love the storylines/relationships. I can watch it over and over.
