that would have been my guess. They even played it during tour many times. Tons of chances to promote the song.

Hmm, I get where you are coming from Luke. But I remember being at the Boston taping (just the show where there was 1,000 people to do close-ups) and WTWCT got a better reaction than a lot of the old hits. You can see on the DVD that everyone that night was so into the song. Everyone was up and dancing, you can even see Stevie's reaction to the crowd...lots of smiles from her on that song.

Thanks, I knew that. I just wondered if he approaches the songs in terms of what songs he thinks would be 'radio friendly' or if some songs just turn out that way.

This is always hard - I'm never sure if what I like and what would've been a good single match up, although I know later singles, like "DYMM", are almost guaranteed to go against what I like, so... Anyway, let's have a go!
"Slow Dancing"
"I Must Go"
"This Is The Time"
"Underground"
"Treason"
I like the first three but no the last two. It could've worked, perhaps...

When I was younger, I would have said 'That's How We Do It In L.A.' would be a good single. Even now, I wish 'Johnny Stew' could have been a single. I know they are odd songs, but I've always liked them.

I agree with Micheles choice for Gift Of Screws. That song could have put him on radar of the indie-charts, where he belongs as a solo-artist. But in the USA he'll never surpass the AOR-label that sticks on him. pity.

Yeah, "THWDIILA" would've probably done quite well. "Johnny Stew", however, is probably a bit too obscure for a successful single. And, yes, I love them both - the whole album is underrated, imo, even if a couple of songs were... shall we say, "Oh Diane"ish? ("A Satisfied Mind" instantly springs to mind.)

Yeah, come to think of it, I would've thought "Isn't It Midnight" from TITN would've been successful for FM, but I was wrong there too. Obviously the general public don't like good music unless rumours abound about the songs, or something... ah, the whims of pop music! I doubt I'll ever grasp it!
