Default Lindsey's comment about DixieChicks/Landslide

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham Lukewarm On Dixie Chicks' Remake

Fri Apr 11, 6:00 AM ET

Billy JohnsonJr

Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" has seen renewed interest in recent months thanks to a hit cover version by the Dixie Chicks on their latest album, Home. Fleetwood Mac singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham said that while he appreciates their effort, he's not a huge fan of the Chicks' rendition.
_
"I enjoyed it. It's not my taste, but I thought it was good," Buckingham said. "I mean, they're great players and everything, and I was very happy for Stevie [Nicks] that that had happened but, you know, that's not really my thing."

"Landslide" first appeared on the Fleetwood Mac album in 1976, which was Buckingham and Nicks's first with the band.

"Landslide" was not released as a single in 1976, but an acoustic rendition of the song by Buckingham and Nicks--from the 1997 Fleetwood Mac live album, The Dance--reached Number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fleetwood Mac's new album, Say You Will, comes out Tuesday (April 15).

The group launches a North American tour on May 7 in Columbus, Ohio.

Hmm, that's really kind of a throwaway comment by Lindsey. He likes it, thinks the Chicks are good, was happy for Stevie, but it isn't quite his thing.

I sort of suspect this was published not because what he said was profound in any way, but because the Chicks are an easy target right now and it was decided by someone to use this fairly innocuous comment to try to further stick it to them.

I agree. I doubt they called Lindsey just to ask him what he thought about Stevie's song. They were probably doing an interview for the new cd and decided to run a seperate piece with his comment about the song so they could use the DixiChicks/Fleetwood Mac headline.

Fleetwood Mac seems to have more in common with the Dixie Chicks than Landslide.

Dixie Chicks Web site attracts lawsuit

A lawsuit filed on behalf of fans accuses the Dixie Chicks of running a scheme along with the Official Dixie Chicks Fan Club, Yahoo Inc., Ticketmaster and Sony Music.

Attorneys representing fans claim the parties conspired to induce members of the public to pay $30 to join the fan club. In exchange, members would get "first access to the best seats" for the group's 2003 tour. The lawsuit claims that those who paid the $30 received the worst seats.

South Carolina attorney James Merrit filed the suit, demanding the $30 membership fee be returned to all disgruntled fans who signed up thinking they'd be part of a pre-sale that gave them the inside track on good tickets.

In other Chicks news, a freedom of speech petition is circulating on the Internet in support of lead singer Natalie Maines. However, the Blue Chip Radio Report pointed out that the Associated Press reports that not all signatures are legitimate.

It's my favorite and sure to become a classic

I think it's the issue with Jennifer Garner and Scott Foley on the cover. There's a Q&A with Stevie.
