I came across this video on youtube and wondering if it was originally supposed to be the videoclip for "Edge Of Seventeen"? Is there any place or anyone that has a HQ copy of the video. I kinda like it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1b53...ext=1&index=62 thank you |

It is supposed to be the video. I have only seen it in this condition. It is something else that needs an official release!

I've seen it claimed so many times that this was "never released," "never played on MTV" etc. but I swear to God I remember seeing it. Not sure what the problem was. Maybe there was just some sort of dispute over legal stuff, or maybe Stevie or someone didn't like the way it came out (similar to the original "Civil War" version of "Stand Back"). But I do remember seeing it! ![]()

I have one thing to say - BOUNCE Stevie, bounce! On another note, it looks like she's leaning over to snort a line before she picks up the doll at 1:26. And she's really got the devil in her eyes. Wicked!
O.k. last thing: At 3:33 the guy's saying "Stevie, it's time to part with your doll. Come on, you're all grown up now and a rock and roll star. You can't be carrying that thing around forever". Last edited by SapphireSister; 04-14-2010 at 05:40 PM.. |

It's a bit... cheezy,
But what a great song! Maybe it didn't have the EO17 'haunting' feel that she sings it with?

Danny Goldberg wrote this:
I got it into my head that I should direct a video for “Edge of Seventeen,” the third single. I felt that Stevie’s own environment, filled with cosmic drawings and knickknacks, and her own private flamboyance would be a great visual accompaniment to the song. Somehow I forgot that the most important thing about a video is how the performer herself looks. The cinematographer we got lit her in a way that was unflattering. The video itself was an amateurish mess and had to be totally scrapped. Luckily she had recently shot an HBO special and we were able to excerpt her performance of “Edge of Seventeen” to maintain her exposure on MTV. I had a significantly enhanced respect for video directors and never tried dabbling in their field again. The experience reminded me that it was the artist’s job to be creative and my role was to be their advocate. Although Stevie was irritated for a few weeks, she soon forgave me and never mentioned this embarrassing error in judgment. http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=37411 |

I love the spoken intro, it's neat to hear Stevie speaking her lyrics
