Best of's, singles collections, greatest hits have become the latest rage among older artists still releasing new music. My favorite part of this tendency is that these compilations also always include at least one new song! Also, these singles collections are used to promote a new album: see Morrissey, Bryan Ferry, Scritti Politti. I think Buck should seriously do this, especially as the much-sought-after Holiday Road is not available and remasters for, at least, the singles from his 80s output are sorely needed.

Would be a good project during these 18 months for Liddy to do.

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

"Holiday Road" was finally (but quietly) released on a commonly available CD in 2009. The CD is called "A Hollywood Christmas" (Time-Life 24892). It slipped right by me, but I read about it recently on another music forum and just got my copy today from Amazon.

And lo & behold, it sounds pretty decent and appears to be from a tape source (the song's appearance on the old Words & Music comp was transferred from vinyl). There are a couple of strange clicks in the right channel a few seconds in, which had me fearing it was another vinyl transfer. But I checked my personal vinyl transfer and those same clicks are there, so those must be an anomaly of the recording or the master tape.

It's great to finally get this long sought-after song on a proper CD release! Now if we could just get "Dancin' Across the U.S.A."!

Holiday Road and Dancin' Across the U.S.A. are also on the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation CD. Are these taken from vinyl??

I would prefer a mac project, but if Stevie is doing a solo thing; he should too.

Yes, those are needle drops on that CD. Actually, the legitimacy of the CD is highly questionable and I suspect it's a bootleg. Someone claimed on one of the online forums that it was sold legitimately at a California theme park (maybe Magic Mountain), but that was disputed. In any event, this CD is not the place to go for tape sources of LB's Vacation songs.

Considering that I only had an LP for these songs, I guess I really couldn't tell.
Do you think the MP3s of these songs have reasonable quality?

Seriously both Scritti Politti and Bryan Ferry are/have released Singles Collections in build-up to new release: AND included at least one new track on said collections. I think Lindsey's people should get on that . . .

I've listened to the 22-track version endlessly since starting this thread, and it makes for a fascinating and beautiful listen. ... And there's still room for one disc to include two more tracks!

If I ran Hollywood . . .
