Default New Stage Show to Re-Create Rumours Album

This
article tells of a new concert series where the most classic old rock albums are being recreated ina live environmne.t CLassic Albums Live I think is the title - possibly related to the Classic Albums show, I don't know.

Quote:
Craig Martin, a Toronto performer and producer, is going to give you that chance with a series of concerts recreating those classic albums. Once a month, at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre, beginning with Dark Side of the Moon tomorrow, Martin will assemble an 11-piece band of musicians for a note-by-note performance of those classics.

"We want to treat these just as Mozart is treated by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, with a lot of respect and a lot of passion," explains Martin. "We're going back and researching the instrumentation the band used. My guitar player just ordered a foot pedal from the '70s he managed to find online to re-create one of the sounds of the Dark Side of the Moon album. We're taking great care and passion to do this.

Classic-rock radio station Q107 is presenting the concerts, and Molson is promoting them. After each presentation at the Phoenix, the show will go on the road to Quebec City, Montreal, Kingston and Ottawa.

The most important point to be made is that these are not tribute shows where every tic and move of the original is mimicked.

"A lot of people think we're going to have somebody up there dancing around like Stevie Nicks, but that's not the case," says Martin. "It's going to be three or four girls singing Stevie Nicks. We're finding the best person for each song to sing and play."

.......

And there's more to the show than just music. For Fleetwood Mac's Songbird, a grand piano will be wheeled into the middle of the dance floor. After each album has been performed, a band retrospective will follow and for Tusk, the follow-up to Rumours, Martin is bringing in a high school marching band.
Sounds fantastic! Hope one of you lucky North Americans gets to check it out!
