Default The Book from No Spoken Word

Has there ever been a discussion about what the book is that Stevie refers to in the line "I don't know how to learn from the pages of a book". I didn't think much of it until I saw the Red Rocks live version where she really accentuates the part about the book with what may or may not be speaking in tongues or a stream of obscenities.

In the days where people talked about her being a witch I used to think she meant the Bible, as in her spirituality was closer tied to Wicca rather than the more traditional teachings of Christianity. When people said she was a witch I figured she was Wiccan or Pagan but from the way she talks now about the whole "witch" rumor I don't think that was it at all. Especially in that interview where she says she likes to think of herself as Glinda but is not a "magic witch", I would think if she did have ties to Wicca she wouldn't have used that terminology.

Anyway, am I making too big a deal of this or has anyone else ever wondered about this?

i understand what you mean...but i think she's saying she can't learn from a book, like she can only learn from true experience, not by just reading about it....

....that may be too literal, but it's what i think.

Yeah she learns from the book of hard knocks, her own experiences, mistakes, chances in life, love, and tradegy. Maybe she might consult her book of Miracles now and then too.

Which raises another question. Just what is the "book of miracles"?

Probably her journasl. It documents her journey through her life on the road, all the fabulous people she has met, all of her travels, her joys fears, desires, highs and lows, how she dealt with things, how she treated people, and how those people treated her. All these things are her miracles, her destiny, her reality, the miracles of her rock and roll, and personal life. So if she refers back to such times to reflect with fondness, or to learn from a mistake, maybe it would, or could very well be her Book Of Miracles. If all else fails she can always turn to the blue crystal mirror, because that is always truthful.

I always just assumed that Stevie just kinda rattled out the "book" lines, and it was mostly metaphorical, not really any specific one. Never really thought about it much, but the journal theory was a good one

LMAO I know right. I don't think anyone will be able to answer this question because I don't think even Stevie remembers what she said

I'm not positive what exactly the book is in the song.I believe that its been "established" that the Book of Miracles is derived from the actual book A Course In Miracles of which Stevie is tied to in some way.And that's all I know'bout THAT

This comes up all the time and that is NOT what she says. If you hear other boots from that tour she says "not from the pages, not from a book". On the Red Rocks show she says "well I don't know how to learn, not from the pages, not from a, learn from a book!" . It does sort of sound like "not from a God damn, from a book!" but the motherf***ing part is NOT part of it.
