I mean, the song is catchy, and I love Stevie's voice as always...the production just isn't great. Maybe the finished product will be more impressive.

ANYWAY - wasn't Stevie going to contribute to some jazz-tribute album? Maybe Dave Stewart is producing her track & they just decided to work on some other songs?

...It's a demo. How many of Stevie's rock songs literally began as a rock song?

But with regards to this song, I don't think she will turn it into anything heavy anyway. It strikes me as something that would fit on TISL. It has that soft, contemporary style.

I really like it

Yeah Im glad shes making new music, but I hope this isn't for a jazz collection or something. At least if the Eagles thing happens this summer, we have a few new tracks to look foward to!

Agreed. Trite lyrics, dull music. I wanted something with a kick, and the "then he sayyyyys" got my hopes up that I'd get it before they came crashing down with that weak chorus. I didn't think the Sweet Girl theme could get any more Delilah-after-Dark adult contemporary. I was wrong.

Ok, I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like it. First off, I think their voices sound really good together. I never thought two deep voices would accent each other that well, but they really do in the song. Second, I like the lyrics. There is nothing weird about it and they are sad lyrics. Third, this sounds like a REAL worked out song. We only heard the chorus, but it seems like she is really trying. Lastly, I like the music. It's got some ambiance to it. Sorry, folks but I think it's actually pretty good.

It's great she's working in a studio right now, I'm really happy to see that. However, there are some combos of voices that meld together beautifully (Stevie/Chris, Stevie/Lindsey, Stevie/lots of other people ---- ) but unfortunately I don't hear Stevie/Dave's voices melding all that well. But hey it's an early version still....

PS - Please please make the synth-strings go away.

Best of luck to Stevie on this project!

Straight from Dave's Twitter:

"Glad you all like the Me and Stevie song demo snip we wrote two new killer ones yesterday she is brilliant to write with as great as ever"

Album anyone?

Default My two cents...

I also think their voices blend well together. And everyone needs to keep in mind that this is the two of them sitting in her living room recording this. It is a demo...unfinished. I am sure that if we get the final product, it will be awesome. I just hate it that you come here and see all this excitement for new material being written and then all these naysayer killjoys have to chime in.

I suspect that the verses will be a lot "deeper" than what is in the chorus. And according to Dave on Twitter, they have written 4 songs now, so this is just the tip of the iceberg. Woo hoo!!

I actually don't mind the strings! I thought ever since Stevie's Practical Magic songs back in '98 that she should do a stripped down acoustic and strings album... kinda like what Sheryl Crow ended up releasing herself with Wildflower back in '05. Of course, these strings will no doubt be erased in time... this is after all a very early demo.

In my opinion "Everybody Loves You" is a great beginning, The lyrics in the chorus are great & evoke a sadness/loneliness that are universal, yet we know they apply to Stevie (makes me want to give her a BIG HUG) directly & I'm sure if she records a new CD there will be a few uptempo rock tracks, This song is not meant to rock. This sort of reminds me of "I Miss You" in a good way. Her voice sounds delectably wicked!! Stevies' voice has always been a treasure no matter what era, and is dripping with even more wisdom as it ages.......

Wan't there a snippet of a review from one of the Oz shows in Dec about when someone yelled out, I love you Stevie, Lindsey follows with Everyone Loves Stevie. Connection??? Who knows....

Anyway, while this new venture is still in it's infancy, it's wonderful that we are seeing and hearing that new material is actually being created!!!

Someone needs to tweet to Dave to get him on the Ledge.

I think people are failing to realize that it is actually a very sad song- it's not supposed to be rocking! It's low-key, but still very hummable and memorable. And it does sound very much like a Eurythmics song- the melody of the chorus is very, very similar to "The Miracle of Love," which is one of my fave Eurythmics songs evah.

For the finished production, I hope he takes out the string sound and gives it more of a "wall of sound" keyboard/guitar treatment a la Coldplay. It would be new and fresh sounding for Stevie.

So between the four Dave Stewart songs and the New Orleans song, we have half of an album already written. If she throws in a half dozen or so old demos into the mix, she's got an instant solo album- just add water!

Better yet, get him to get Stevie on the Ledge!
