I noticed one of the covers to LG's album singles (I think it might have been some remixs, possibly) had that same colorful streak across her eyes just like the album cover for Spring Session M.

I'm not a huge fan but I do really appreciate what she does and enjoy listening to her music from time to time. She's really the total package as far as an entertainer goes, with the legit talent to back up all the glitz and theatricality. Friends who have gone to her concerts have come back saying they were among the most amazing live music experiences they have ever had.

And while she may not be the first to do what she's doing, she is one of a few who is doing it NOW, where everything is constantly more public and taken at face value. She knows the game she's playing. I mean, people are going to think what they want but they should at least listen to "Speechless" before they start throwing out comments regarding her talent/staying power.

No you're not. I also love Lady Gaga. I really think she's a breath of fresh air in the music industry. I've been watching her interviews and performances for a long time now and she's the real deal. She seems to be a very genuine person and she loves her fans to death. Sure, a lot of her fashion styles have been done before, but I believe she's aware of that. Gaga has a way of taking everything from the past and putting a fresh spin on it.

Did I mention that she has a freakin' awesome voice?

Just listened to that song online, and the main thing I come away from it with is there was a hell of a lot of pro-tooling on her voice . I absolutely give her props for writing her own lyrics, and being creative/controlling her own image... but that's where I draw the line. She's just an attention and fame grubbing ho. I honestly don't think she was held enough as a child or something. All she knows how to do STILL is say: "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK WHAT I CAN DO!!! LOOK AT ME!!!" And that just totally rubs me the wrong way. Make your statement with your music. She's putting the cart before the horse in my opinion by focusing her drive for fame on her "outrageous" look, and the "outrageous" things she says and does. Are we truly out of visionary artists like the Beatles, who took rock and turned it upside down? Is crap like Gaga all we're left with??

have you ever heard her sing live? or heard her play the piano? you can fault her for many things, but lack of musical and vocal acumen is not one of them.

Unless you think I'm talking about the "arrogant" comment. The way she drones on and on about herself and her "visionary" fashion and lifestyle is proof she's arrogant. I don't know if she can decry sexism in the music biz either. Women rule the music scene. They routinely outsell the boys in concert tours, album sales, and grammy awards. If somebody in the industry called her arrogant or a bitch, she's probably just that.
just like everything that industry people say about stevie or any other artist is categorically true. come on! i don't know how she behaves when the cameras are off, but that's just a silly thing to say.

yes, i was talking about the arrogant comment. at this point in history, it's not a revolutionary thing to say, but there is truth to it. also, she's 23. you show me one young woman with aspirations to be anything but a housewife who hasn't felt that exact same way and i'll eat my yoga pants. in fact, she's not even denying that she's arrogant; she's just saying it's a less acceptable trait for women to have than men. again, true.

i would like to reiterate her age. 23. every young woman reaches a point in her life where she realizes that the bull**** bromides she was fed as a youngster (especially when it comes to the women of my generation, raised on a steady PC diet of "girls rock," "gender roles are societal constructs," etc) have not fully prepared her for the realities of adulthood. she is still cutting her teeth both as an adult and as an artist. i don't think what she said was that big of a deal.

furthermore, saying that women outsell men in the music biz hardly means they're calling the shots. entertainment is still largely a man's world, baby, and i say that as someone who hates gloria steinem. you won't find me spouting any feminazi dogma.

but to illustrate my point, on FLDS compounds, women and girls are a far more valuable commodity than boys, who are routinely dumped on the streets of salt lake city and reno. but does that mean the women are calling the shots? hardly. it may seem like a far-flung analogy, but in both cases we are talking about the economics of sex. prevalence and marketability do not necessarily add up to clout.

With her footz, no less!

I don't pay attention to this sort of music much, but a blog I read regularly had a clip posted, wherein she played some song on a piano and spent much of it banging the heel of her shoe on the keys.

I think they teach that at Julliard.

I don't HATE her. I respect her very much as an artist, I just feel that she's been done before. But when it was done before it was much more shocking and drastic. I mean, Bowie in a knitted swimsuit-come-leotard chewing through the strings of a guitar after singing about 'falling wanking to the floor'. That's shocking.

I do think she can sing and I do think she's a pretty, talented girl. I'm just not grabbed by her 'new' and 'outrageous' thing that she does.

Why can't the fact I dislike Gaga be entirely separate from her gender? It wouldn't make a bit of difference to me if she were a man... in fact, I hate Adam Lambert for all the same reasons I detest Gaga. An attention grubbing spotlight hog is an attention grabbing spotlight hog, regardless of what's between their legs. I'm a gay man... I freaking love women. All my life my best friends have been women. I can hardly relate to men. The only advocacy/charity work I've ever associated myself with has been causes for equality when it comes to gender and sexuality. And by the virtue of being a gay man, all my gay friends AND my women friends have exposed me to Gaga and her studio AND live performances plenty. I just plain don't like her. Her flash to substance ratio is grossly off kilter. She's more concerned with saying, doing, and wearing things that will get her attention. What she wore to meet the Queen of England was completely insulting... and I don't even give two ****s about the monarchy! I was insulted that an AMERICAN representing our country and our entertainment biz looked like a damn fool in front of a world figurehead. And in turn, that makes Americans look disrespectful throughout the world. Yes, there is much work to be done when it comes to the equality of women in the world. I just don't see how Gaga wearing an outfit made entirely out of Kermit The Frogs is accomplishing good for humanity. If anything, people like Gaga are polarizing... further emboldening foes for inequality.

ummmmmm ... i seriously think you misunderstood me. i didn't say you disliked her because she was a woman, i was offering context for her statements.

I just read on Billboard's website that GaGa and Adam Lambert are working on
a duet. A remake of Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand's "You Don't Bring
Me Flowers".

I cannot foresee that working... then again, if "Poker Face" can be considered good, it will in that sense work...
