To this day i still don't know exactly what happened to him. I remember that my mother was really tired of him peeing on her carpet (he did this a few times but he was only just a few months old) so she took him to the humane society only the place wasn't open so she left him in the carrier in front of the place. You have no idea how pissed i was at her for just leaving him like that especially when he would be sitting there scared for hours and she didn't even have to get rid of him.
I had another kitten BBK when i was 11 and he died. We got him maybe a week before he first opened his eyes and nemo used to treat him just like a little brother lol. He would get beaten up regularly. One weekend my sister and I went over my dad's house and my mother called to tell us that she was outside with nemo and BBK and he went missing. A few minutes later our next door neighbor was coming out of her drive way to go to the store or something and BBK kind of rolled off the tire. He didn't get completely ran over but his tail did so I'm guessing he died of a heart attack or something idk but he was only a baby. The sad thing is is that for the next week or two nemo would always look for him so he'd be crying around the house. I sat next to the stove for hours because BBK would always hide behind it

And that Christmas picture of Goobers made me laugh out loud. Fantastic. I had to show it to my kids - they loved it, too. I can tell from the pics that he was awesome, and I'm so sorry he passed away.

Rats make really great pets. My sister had a rat when we were younger named Templeton. Before we got him, I wouldn't have thought a rat could have a great personality, but Templeton definitely changed my mind. And he was flippin' smart, too.

I wouldn't say that firebellies are hard to take care of, but they can be rather expensive to keep (assuming you do it right). Between the costs of the tank, filter, lights (though they are primarily nocturnal, so the light is really just to help you see them. They don't require any special UV bulbs or anything), plants, substrate etc, initial setup can run into the hundreds of dollars, then you have to factor in the cost of feeding them. First there's the cost of the feeder insects themselves (and firebellies will not eat dead insects, so you have to feed live) plus if you want your firebellies to stay healthy, you have to gut-load their insects with a nutrient rich feed. I feed my crickets a combination of color enhancing fish food and breakfast cereal that I've ground up. On top of that, last year they bred and I spent well over a $1,000 trying to raise the babies only to lose all of them in a really bad heat spell. Over the years, I've also had the adults come down with various ailments - which of course means vet bills (thankfully, I work at the vet's office so medical care for my critters is discounted).

Day to day maintenance really just consists of feeding them, observing them for any health problems (as well as doing a head count, since they are notoriously good at escaping), and weekly water changes.

Thank you for you comments on Goobers. He was most definitely awesome. It's a shame that rats are so misunderstood by so many people. They're very sweet and sociable pets and I really can't imagine ever not having at least one in my life. As much as it hurts to lose them, I think it would kill me to be totally without them.

Popping noise? I think I know what you mean. Nelly does it all the time, but it's only annoying when you're trying to concentrate on something. I love all of her little birdie sounds, even when she screeches, lol.

[QUOTE=desertangel;871957]This is my 4 year old Yorkshire Terrier/Miniature Poodle mix "Jessica" - named after... you guessed it!

I found her at the Humane Society almost two years ago. She's every bit as sweet as she looks.

Oh!

That's Nelly's default expression when I bring out the camera. "What is this contraption and why are you always pointing it at me?"

LOL and now i really want a bird..I will have a million animals when I'm older and hopefully nemo won't try to kill them =\

Nemo's default expression when i bring out my camera used to be kind of like "ooooh" and he tries to swipe at it. I have a picture of him while he is doing that but i can't find it and he's really cute in it

Just in case someone was wondering what BBK stands for...it's BooBooKitty lol. There's a reason i swear. When we first got him we used a box top for a litter box (he was too small to get into Nemo's) and whenever he would use it he would get a little of his poop on the bottom of his paws so we would always have to clean them.

I did a plasma installation for this guy years ago when I was still in Florida. He had 3 or 4 large birds in his kitchen/dining area. I was trying to explain to him how I was going to mount the TV to the wall... and he was listening intently... but every 10 seconds or so, one of the birds would let out this ear piercing (and I mean headache inducing) squak that would interrupt what I was saying. The customer just stared at me as if... as if he wasn't even hearing it. I suppose it's like babies/kids when they cry and piss and moan in public and I want to snap their little heads off... and the parents do nothing... they are desensitized to it or something?

We have the family cat, Coco - she is Persian. She is cool!
However, I wish I could get a pet - something exotic

I love everybody's pets!

I've got a very cute little dog named Tessy. She's a Biewer Yorshire-Terrier, almost 4 years old and she means everything to me.

Ah, right, we also have a bunch of fish but they belong my Dad actually. He's as crazy about fish as you can be.

Why did it just take me an hour to respond to this? Ugh.

Anyhow, this is Hollywood (Holly) and Bloo. Holly is a 3 year old Standard Poodle in need of a hair cut, and Bloo is a 3 year old supposed Chihuahua. Holly is sooo hyper and Bloo is so scared of everything. I don't know why, I've owned him since he was weaned.

This would be my Oscar. He went to the vet today, and let me tell you, he was a BITCH to get in the pet bag. Not a happy boy. This is my baby doll. I love him soooo much!

Last, but definitely not least, is Bueller. Ferret Bueller. Yes, named after Ferris, because he's just a little trouble maker. I can never get a good picture of him because he refuses to sit still! haha! I love him dearly!

Were they big ass parrots? Then I understand, because I don't think I could tolerate those. A friend of mine had one and you could hear him halfway up the street. Nelly's just a little budgie. She's screechy, but not break-your-eardrums screechy.
