not a lot, but we could make it work for a night or two.

I'm going.

My oldest friend (25 years and counting) and I are planning a whirlwhind trip to NYC, then Long Island (where I am from).

If I don't necessarily want to dress like Stevie, what do Iwear?

Do you have any vintage? Like a Von Furstenberg 'wrap' dress, or Halston? With stiletto sandals, if you got 'em. Prints are big here too, so if you have a dress (in violet and blue) with a print with a nice pair of heels I think you'll be fine. Accessories are chunky again, so you can load up on the cuff bracelets and big rings.
What will you do with your hair?

Photos from past events, most people that go do have similar outfits to what Stevie would wear

John, I love you. I giggled when I read "Halston and VonFurstenberg" because at first I thought you were teasing me and then I realized you weren't. I don't have designer clothes! That being said, I *WILL* have these items by May 14. I have some young hip friends at work. They are very excited for me and will totally make sure I am appropriately dressed for this pilgrimage.

Can I wear black, though? Instead of violet and blue (though those are both good colors for me)? I begin the elliptical routine this weekend, so I may lose the 10lbs I would need to feel confident enough to NOT wear black. Should all this be in a PM? LOL

Who else is going and who wants to meet up before the show?

I'd love to meet up I have no idea what I'm going to wear either. I don't look good at all in black, but it would feel like sacrilege to go to NOTS in anything but.

I would say that somewhere around 90% of the ladies are clad in black or other dark hues in a normal year. The year that the theme was 'Alice' there was a lot of red, and last time I went (I think 2008) I saw loads of white, I think the theme was doves. It varies by theme, I suppose.

How about leggings? I see lots of tights and leggings here in NYC among the younger crowds, worn under skirts or shorts. Check this out, from TimeOutNYC latest issue...

while the large majority do dress in some themed clothes, there are certainly people not dressed in Stevie-style or themed clothes. wear whatever you're comfortable in. I'd say if you don't want to dress in themed clothes, wear what you'd wear out for a night on the town. don't stress too much, just enjoy the experience!

last year was the largest audience ever and I'm sure it will be even bigger this year so it's sure to sell out fast.

I've gone without advanced tickets. It's a chance you take though, because as Jaz says it gets crowded and this year I think will be no different.
One year it took me about 1 and a half hours to get in. Waiting, waiting, chatting with the doormen to no avail though he said he'd try to help. I was going to give up and split. Finally, Johny Dynell came out and took a look at the crowd and I went up to him and asked him could I get in (I was by myself) and he got me in. And I didn't have to offer anyone drugs or sexual favors, I got off easy, LOLLLL!!!!!

But seriously. better to buy tickets in advance, for sure.

ugh, i'm so upset there's an age limit! I've always wanted to go-to hang out with other Stevie/Mac fans! But if it's true that this may be the last one, i may never go!!

i'll deal, i guess...and look at tons of vids/pics!
