Default Loreena MacKennitt

Anyone else a fan?

http://www.quinlanroad.com/

She does a blend of Celtica, World Beat, New Age, Eastern, and traditional. Lots of mythical and mystical themes. One of her most popular songs is ‘The Lady of Shalott’ adapted from the famous poem. See:

‘The Bonny Swans’ (I like the medieval imagery): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsNJuhBfbPg

Absolutely! There are singers I consider somehow related. f.ex, Stevie is the hippie californian sorceress, kate is more of a enchanted ballet dancer, loreena is the full-on medieval fairy. Am I making sense? anyway, it seems perfectly logical to me why a stevie fan would also fall for loreena's music.

Another fan. I think she's great! I really enjoyed her holiday album from last year.

Favorites are The Bonny Swans, Caravanserai, The Old Ways, The Lady of Shalott, and The Mummer's Dance.

Love, love, love Loreena... I have two of her albums: Mask and Mirror and Book Of Secrets. I was in High School when the Mummer's Dance came out, and have been a fan ever since!

Just love her! I have all her CD's and met her once at a record signing. She was very nice and took time to talk to each person and to pose for pictures.

There is an amazing track called 'Incantation' from her 'An Ancient Muse' CD. There' s a snippet at:

(column on the right).

Loreena also set the famous poem 'The Highway Man' (the storyline was used in the video to the FM song 'Everywhere') to music :

P.S. Got to see the very famous John Waterhouse painting 'The Lady of Shalott' again a few weeks ago (seen it in London before). It is now on show in Montreal.

Count me in. The Visit was my first album and I was hooked. I have all of them.
If you ever get a chance to see her live, she is amazing and quite talented. I always thought Christine McVie was über cool with her accordion, but Loreena gives her a run for her money.
I saw her on The Book of Secrets Tour in San Francisco and was totally blown away.

She is wonderful!
I saw her at the Great American Music Hall when she was supporting "The Visit".
It was an amazing show, but one odd and memorable detail was that she forgot a verse to "The Lady of Shalotte" and wanted to begin the song again, not once but at least twice, and perhaps three times. It was actually very entertaining, and she laughed about it. Those long ballads are quite hypnotic and repetitive—easy to get lost.

I don't think I have gotten any of her cds since she began exploring the music of Galicia. I need to go visit her site - thanks for the reminder!
