Thumbs down The Blizzard

Just wondering if I'm the only Ledgie experiencing the Blizzard of 2010 right now. Luckily we still have power, but some do not have it, especially those in NJ. There are some in Delaware who have lost it & Maryland. It's really bad. Right now, it's white out conditions. Our governor has declared a state of emergency. And that means no one but emergency personnel should be out on the roads. It's going to take a long time to dig out of this one. I doubt that I'll get to work on Monday. I'd be surprised.

Im in NOVA right now and its crazy..we have almost 30 inches of snow in some places and in DC there is a massive snowball going on right now but many people can't drive because the roads are covered with snow and theres a million accidents. on the news they said that since the storm began almost 3,000 calls have been answered at the police station asking for service. We have a few people having heart attacks and some ppl have actually walked to the hospital (one kid was playing football and he fell and cut his head so he came to get stitches). A church collapsed somewhere in nova and a part of dulles airport caved in or something like that. I have pictures of the snow and ill try to post them later once my phone decides to be nice to me

Not to belittle what's goin' on down there, but in Syracuse, where I normally go to school, this is "another day at work."

Two feet? ? ? ? Please! . . . . . . .

I wish you folks in the snow covered hills the best of luck. And the best of warmth. I worry about all the people freezing without electricty.

Long Island has snow on the way for Tuesday night all the way into Wednesday.

I LOVE this winter but I think maybe we're going to have to let it go. It's just simply not suited for this particular position. There's a youngster named "Spring of 2010" who I believe would be a perfect replacement. I'll be happy to type up a nice Letter of Recommendation but the old man should really pretty much consider this his "three week's notice."

We've never had more than half an inch of snow all winter. Thank God!

Yeah. It reminds me of that song "Think Twice" by Phil Collins. But don't worry too much, because I think maybe in general; people without electricity can rent a generator, go to a hotel, etc.,; or if they don't have money they can go to a shelter that's been set up by the Red Cross, etc. If they don't have those options, then of course, "that's a concern." I also worry a bit about people that live in extremely rural areas - West Virginia might be an example, in this situation - where these types of things might not be so easily available. But on the positive side, hopefully neighbors will be willing to help each other out - people with oil heating are probably letting their neighbors with electricity stay with them awhile, etc. But yeah, this is definitely a situation where people need to help each other out - because of the fact that it's literally life-or-death. (And I'd also like to add that it's not such a bad time to be checking on the elderly, sick people, etc.)
