Meh, The Dance holds a special place in my soul because its the first recording of "Rhiannon" that I ever heard. Plus, I love how she's visibly shaking in the end of the song... its definitely subdued, but I think this version is intense in its own weird way.
I think she does a good job on the Live in Boston version too, though. Eh, although "Rhiannon" isn't ANYTHING compared to what it was 30 years ago, I still think that the song has an impressive way of shifting to who Stevie is at the time that she sings it. I think its gained a little composure and class-- not necessary a bad thing, but its just not the exorcism we fell in love with anymore. Maybe I'm just biased because I'm in love with this song, but I can appreciate almost any version, even if its pretty boring. I just see "Rhiannon" to be a lot more than a song-- its a living, breathing entity to me, and it perfectly depicts Stevie at any given time. ![]() |
