Must have been a last minute change to take them out.
The original plan was that the box set would be 5 cds, with many B-sides and demos. I don't know the reason why, but it was scaled back to 3 cds. I would think we would have seen these tracks included, but I think some hard choices had to be made once it was decided there was going to be less room.

It now makes me wonder what the other 2 cds would've contained in them? It at least should've been 4 cds.....what a total shame.......I do like the box set but it could've been way more awesome to have had more rare items included....plus a larger picture book with more rare photos/outtakes from at least the LP cover sessions.....I also think a nice tie-in would've been to release the Vh1 storytellers show on dvd and cd at that time....that would've really made it cool....I could think of a million ideas for alot of stuff....like alot of us here.... but thats how it goes......so dreaming on........still.......

Yeah, "Real Tears" was supposed to be on Disc 2 following "Beauty and The Beast" in the original track listing. It got the shaft and replaced with "Kind of Woman" for some unfathomable reason.

I agree...it's always bugged me that practically the entire Bella Donna record is included in the box set. Doesn't make much sense to me. I can't help but think of all those wonderful, wonderful demos that we all know and love but will probably never see the light of day. I hope 2010 brings some sort of solo release from Stevie...

For the 5-Disc Enchanted that Stevie had hoped for, she turned in several recordings to the record company in NYC for consideration:

The Nightmare - two piano demos

Edge of Seventeen - unreleased extended dance version

Twisted - Two demos without the guitar overdubs

Gypsy Beggar - piano demo

How Still My Love - two outtakes from early Bella Donna sessions

All Over U - The Prince collaboration from Rock A Little

A Stevie Fan at the record company got hold of these, leaked them to his girlfriend there in New York, and the rest is history...

Hi Michael, so glad to see you here.

I have read some people say that the female vocal on 'All Over U' isn't Stevie, but I always liked to think it really was her, during her wild and sexy RAL period.

It could have been SO much better. It was a bit of a let-down, in many ways.

Considering that these recordings were copied from Atlantic's NYC offices, and "All Over U" was part of these Enchanted recordings that Stevie herself handed over to Atlantic for consideration, I still fail to see why anyone refuses to believe that's Stevie singing.

BTW, Stevie had the Master copy of the song, not Prince's people. His fans had no clue about the song until 1998, through Stevie Fan sources. Oh well...

Edit: Wasn't trying to sound snotty, sorry! It's just that "All Over U" was part of Stevie's Master tapes that she handed over to Atlantic in Early 1998 as unreleased songs she would like to be part of the "Rarities" part of the collection. I personally know the guy in NYC who got and leaked the songs. His girlfriend (now wife) is a good friend of mine.

Again, wasn't trying to be harsh, John. It's just that there isn't even any question that that is definitely Stevie singing on "All Over U". I would think that Stevie has done TONS of recordings we would be surprised to learn of...

Has Real Tears ever been on a cd? I have it on a cassette single (remember those?) but haven't been able to find a cd quality version.

It's on the UK CD single of LWTG.

I made a mistake!

The original track listing for Enchanted had "Battle of The Dragon" after "Beauty and The Beast" instead of "Kind of Woman". "Real Tears" was supposed to be on Disc 3.

I really think the single mix of "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind" should have been on Enchanted, even if Stevie didn't write it.

Very interesting info to say the least....I wish much more 'rare' stuff would've been included on this box set. Heck we all know it could've been really 'large' and with dvds included. Plus a really great photo section to ....I think we got somewhat rip offf/so to speak. Not that I'm made at Stevie. I know her contract was 'up' at Modern at the time & she was only trying to fulfill her contract & I think get out of it at the time. I just would've been nice as a fan to have had a really wonderful & special box set. I wonder 'if' as fans what would we have put on a say full ...hey lets go all out and do a 9 cd set with 1 or 2 dvds included plus a wonderful photo booklet.....(ex: like Robert Planets box set called 9 Lives.....doesn't have to be totally like it but it could be great....).....Hey are you Micheal Bise who did the BelleFleur/Mirror,Mirror fanazine in the 90's?? Just wondering. If so I loved your fanzine in those days it was awesome....if not so sorry.......take care and love everyones thoughts on this box set.....

05) After The Glitter Fades

13) Long Way To Go
14) Love’s A Hard Game To Play (edited remix)

16) Blue Denim (single remix)

Note: I think “Enchanted” would have stood a better chance as a lead single to promote the boxed set and not “Reconsider Me.” Granted, not by much but better, and a fresh new remix for “Enchanted” from Chris Lord-Alge would have been nice. Nothing that would stray away from the original, but something with a new zing to it. And since this is mostly a collection for fans anyway, I would have included the single edits versions of the singles, since most of them do not appear on CD. I mean really, did we need all of these album tracks? It was a waste of space.

Disc 2 – B Sides and “Movie Star Views”
01) Edge Of Seventeen (full length live version)
02) Sleeping Angel (remix)
03) Blue Lamp
04) Garbo
05) Violet and Blue (remix)
06) One More Big Time Rock And Roll Star (complete)

12) Thousand Days

14) Somebody Stand By Me
15) Twisted (demo)
16) Free Fallin’

Disc 3 – Unreleased, Outtakes and Rare Releases
01) Gold and Braid (Bella Donna outtake)
02) Gypsy (Bella Donna outtake)
03) The Dealer (Bella Donna outtake)
04) Greta (Wild Heart outtake)
05) Smiling Islands (with Robbie Patton)
06) I Pretend (with Sandy Stewart)
07) I Can’t Wait (rock remix)
08) Rock A Little (remix)
09) I Sing For The Things (RAL outtake) (the one with the bouncy melody)
10) Reconsider Me
11) Are You Mine (with Billy Burnette) (RAL outtake)
12) Long Way To Go (edited remix)
13) Street Angel (outtake)
14) Destiny (outtake)
15) Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind (outtake)
16) Jane (Piano Version)

Note: I wasn’t a fan of them including “Whenever I Call You Friend” and “Gold” since you can already get them on CD. “I Pretend” and “Smiling Islands” were both on the Atlantic / Modern Records label which would have made it easy (I assume) for them to be included, and much more of a fan’s pick. Also, needless to say there are numerous outtakes and demos out there so everyone would have their favorites, but I picked the ones that stood out to me. And even though the remix to “Long Way To Go” already exists on CD, I would like to send an edited version of that mix. Am not a fan of the piano version of “Rhiannon” that is on Enchanted, just seems kind of blah, however, that piano version of “Jane” that surfaced a few years ago is beautiful. Anyway, I’m rambling … this would have been more along the lines of what I would have put together.
Nice. I really wish you were in charge of the box set. You did an excellent job of what should have been. If there were a fourth disc -- what would that be? Live material perhaps? Her live duet with Tom Petty,'Needles and Pins', is great and it was released as a single. Then there is also 'Insider,' another great duet. Oh, and there is also the 'Twisted' duet with Lindsey and...and...
