I wouldn't want to meet Stevie over Lindsey in a meet and greet.. no way! LB all the way.

Felder was a reason the Eagles got big, he plays a mean guitar, but I always thought he contributed to his own demise. Frey/Henley is what people go to see primarily, same with B/N with FM. in the end they're gonna have the pull/influence.


What's the latest on the infamous 'dream pairing'? Anyone heard anything?

I wouldn't. I'd rather hang out with John McVie and talk about Arsenal. Mick would be great to hang out with, too, although I've already done that once. John's history is significantly more impressive to me than Stevie's or Lindsey's. Think about it, he was on the "breakout" releases for Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. (Yeah, some of them had prior releases, but McVie was on the ones that put them firmly in the spotlight.)

The whole Stevie superstar thing or Lindsey genius thing really does nothing for me. Their rock star status does not impress me. If you don't think of them as rock stars, but just as regular people, Stevie and Lindsey seem to be two of the most narcissistic individuals out there. That bores me to tears. I know a rock star that if I didn't know he was a rock star, I would never guess he was a rock star. He's too busy writing and releasing new music to get all hung up on being a rock star. When he goes out, it's to hang out with friends he's known for years or people who've more recently come into the picture who have earned some level of trust. Does he sell a lot of records? No, but then again, he told Warner Bros. to f**k off.

I have to defend Henley here a little. Yes, he can be "difficult", but having been a fan for over 20 years now I feel I can say he has definitely mellowed. We have a few contacts with people who work directly for him so we tend to get the Don side of things, but it really seems like Don bends over backwards to appease Frey on a lot of issues. Of course I'm sure if we heard from people who work for Glenn, they'd say just the opposite.

I really can't say I miss Felder all that much in the band. Yes, he's a great guitar player, but I really prefer Joe's playing. It's more organic and not as pristine sounding as Felder's playing....if that makes sense. I'm not a musician.

But for me, the reason I was so upset at Felder's firing, was his guitar playing. For me, he just SMOKES Joe Walsh! Joe plays licks like I play. Nothing really special, that really stands out. Don came up with some BRILLIANT solos. BRILLIANT! That's why I hated to see him go.

I just wanted to say I've really been enjoying your contributions to this thread. It's interesting to learn the inner workings of another band which in many ways, is very equivalent to my beloved Fleetwood Mac. I love the Eagles too, so I've definitely enjoyed seeing an Eagles fan's point of view on this whole double bill tour thing.

I hope you don't find Fleetwood Mac fans have been too hostile. We're all really great folks when it comes down to it. I think we are all just greatly annoyed at the path (or lack thereof) the band has taken since '97. That frustration seems to come out in all sorts of ways. I suspect there are probably a lot of annoyed people in the Eagles world too for that matter. Truthfully, I wish both bands had been more prolific since their big '90s reunions.

Generally speaking, its about 40/30/15/15... SN/LB/MF/JM. At least that's how the SYW tour revenues were split. Stevie continues to require her $175-200K per gig for her services.

I wonder how in the hell Lindsey swallows that, seeing as he not only writes and sings just like Stevie, but he also plays instruments and produces. I realize Stevie is supposed to be the "star" in the touring venue... but that payment arrangement still doesn't seem fair. For some reason I assumed Mick had more of a controlling interest in the band too. I guess all of that went out the window after the Tusk tour.

Hey I have another question relating to Mr Felder. Is it true that on the One Of These Nights guitar solo that he was playing 2 guitars at the same time?

Of the five band members, Stevie is the one I'd least like to meet. It's not that I like her the least. She's in my top 60% as far as my favorites go and her music is even higher than that. But I just don't see much point in meeting her. I don't think it would be that much fun.

If I was a reporter and could interview her, then I'd be more interested in doing that.

Without Stevie, there would be no big money making oppurnities for Lindsey, Mick and John. That's how Lindsey easily swallows his pride(knowing this).

Yeah, Lindsey had to pay off the cost of putting those extra songs on SYW as he agreed to do in Destiny Rules, but after that, I don't think he got less money than Stevie.

I totally agree... and I'm absolutely a Stevie Boy. For some reason, I'd have to go with Lindsey if ever given the choice (like that's gonna happen!). He seems like the only one you could sit down and really talk music with, or have any sort of varied conversation about most anything with. He seems like he'd actually have insightful things to say about the world. Mick is too meandering, Stevie is too self absorbed, and John just wants to be left the hell alone .

Unless he grew two extra arms, I doubt that's possible. I DO know, that he came up with the bass part(which is SIGNIFICANT to that song). I don't remember if Randy Meisner couldn't be there(it's in Don's book, but I'm too lazy to go find it), or what, but I know Don had to teach him the bass part.
