I understand... going on 9 years here, and it's so hard to believe.
Some of these people have seen my Sara grow up!

Just have been going through what everyone has been posting, and I didn't realize this would turn into such a nostalgic thread!!

Thanks Maria, me too. Coming back to the Ledge has brought back alot of that for me, too. He'll be gone 3 years now, on Dec 17th. I'm dog free now. I get waaaay too attached to them, and to be honest, I just can't go through that again.

Don't get me wrong, I love my 2 dogs. The way my crazy life is though, right now they drive me nuts. I keep telling my kids that when they're grown and away, I'll have a really well trained dog that is mine alone. My life won't be so hectic then, and I'll have more time for him.

But think of it this way, homeslice: You can pick up a pooch from the pound/shelter & give it a great homeslice environment! You can go on walks, you can drink beer together, you can watch Josef von Sternberg films & discuss the cinematography, you can go to Petsmart & sniff all the chewtoys, you can eat flies together, you can sniff each other's hinies, you can go ocean or lake swimming, & you can take car trips! Anything's better than being in the cage at the shelter, listening to all those other dogs yapping at you & sniffing you just 'cause they brought you in a little after the others got there.

For me, I've got a loner gene in my DNA. Having a great dog, for me, translated to - me not really needing PEOPLE. Seriously. Most nights, when I'd get off of work, I'd have RATHER gone home to Cash, than hung out with friends. You guys on here, were really all of the friends I wanted, or needed. That's turned around now, which I guess is much healthier. I have a semi-real life now!

David, I also LOVE to travel. Traveling was a BITCH, with a dog. I couldn't in the summer, because I couldn't risk him overheating, if I left him alone in the car for more than five minutes. Boarding wasn't an option, as I'd have never "caged" him. So when I could travel with him, I'd end up staying miles and miles from where I wanted to be, finding a hotel that would allow dogs. (and yes, my friends tried keeping him, and he kept them up all night, crying for "daddy" )
If I outlive my two cousins(which I'm healthy as a horse, and they're smokers and heavy drinkers), I plan on leaving my entire estate, to animal causes.

My plate on Saturday is overflowing as it is! My band is playing, and I've got a monitor system out for Dave Rawlings Machine.
