Thumbs up The Norah Jones Thread

Alright, she's one of today's musicians that I actually own all of their albums. I really love her for some chill music! I just got her new CD and only was able to listen to the first two songs before I had to leave, but it sounds AMAZING!!!! Any other Norah fans out there???

I only know her hit songs and so far they've all been great, especially the first one!

She puts me to sleep most of the time, but her voice is absolutely gorgeous. And I like her new album.

Me too! I don't really understand her phenomenal success at all- the same way that I don't understand Michael Buble's success either. But obviously she's resonating with someone out there for some confounding reason...

I like her quite a bit. Haven't heard her new CD yet. She has a very "lulling" voice - I totally get the "she puts me to sleep" comments, tho I enjoy that kind of mellow jazzy music quite a bit (I'm also a fan of Chris Botti and Keiko Matsui, if that tells you anything about the way my taste in music is currently trending). Her and Cassandra Wilson are two of my favorite singers (I probably follow Cassandra a bit more).

Huge difference between Norah & Buble. Norah actually writes the lionshare of her material- Buble is just an attractive personality with a voice, and not much else.

this maudlin, resigned cover of john prine's "that's the way that the world goes 'round" illustrates just about everything i think is wrong with miss jones.

a study in contrast: miranda lambert's version of the same song.
