Anyone with me?
When RAL came out, I don't recall feeling like she had suddenly changed. She just seemed a bit edgier and darker. If anything it was more like the end of an era than the dawn of a new one.

Well, I guess the early 80s, were both a time of her magical style, and her female rock stuff.

End of an era for sure! 1987 started the new era - and I would put that era ending right before the SA tour.

I voted early 80s...overall, tour and studio, Wild Heart was my favorite time.

I went with early '80s because I'm in love with Bella Donna, her songs on Mirage, and The Wild Heart.
Loved the tours and loved the photos from those years.

Doesn't get much better than this, folks:

I remember that you were sodden in your cups, Hejira, when RAL came out. You felt a sense of loss, a sense of utter betrayal. You felt empty inside, as if your guts had been kicked out & then stomped on in the middle of 5th Avenue.

When RAL was new, I dreamt about Stevie's opening night on tour in Japan, & the whole show was a technological phantasmagoria, like a Madonna concert -- with pillars of light, fireworks, dancers . . . the works. Opening number was "I Can't Wait."

When I saw Stevie in person (on June 29 at the Orange County Fairgrounds), I realized just how silly my dream was.

I totally agree....plus her voice too...but I'd also add for voice WH to very 'early' RAL like '84ish......

I praticalylly like all eras of Stevie, becuase they all had something new an different to offer. Its funny when you play something like dreams and then switch to something like ICW.

Hmm theres something about The Dance era that I really love about Stevie, maybe it's just cause she looks so natural, and her voice was the strongest it ever was.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who really loves the late '80s period. I *LOVED* how husky and seductive her voice was during that time, yet she could still hit the high notes. This was the height of her whole 'fairy tale is lost' era too, which is particularly Stevie. The one song which I think is a textbook example of all of this is Battle Of The Dragon.

I think what I like even more about this period are her sultry backing vocals. From Little Lies, to Marilyn Martin's version of Sorcerer, and especially Rick Vito's Intuition, her backing vocals during this era were perfection.

I think the group shot from Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits ('88) has to be one of the hottest pics of Stevie, ever, as well. She was just smoking!

I do find it a bit hard to watch live performances from this era though. The blank eyed Klonopin stare is a bit heartbreaking.

Yeah, it΄s really bad that she was on klonopin... but that doesn΄t mean that the music was bad...

And I agree with nailatixela that when Stevie was on Betty Ford for the first time, it was end of young-Stevie-era, and when she was there for the second time, it was beginning of new Stevie-era, definitely.

I wasn't as sodden in my cups as much as I was bewildered by her sudden abuse of eyeliner. I had grown used to the heavily shadowed look of her eyes for the Wild Heart, but I wasn't feeling the Cleopatra kohl eyes she was sporting in the "Talk to Me" and "I Can't Wait" videos. It was all so disconcerting... she was channeling Dee Snider in the hair department and then taking a page out of the Siouxsie Sioux look-book with her eyes.

Well the thing is, some of you guys are old enough to remember that. I am only a spring chicken, well whatever you want to call a 14 yr old I probably just thought this becuase I started on the Rumours era, then to her solo stuff.

Its really an impossible thing for me to pick my favorite Stevie Era, I love them all so much for MANY MANY reasons, but I picked the 90's! I have always been drawn to that era, Stevie's voice was just so full!

I believe the early 90's were quite nasty for her. Klonnopin abuse had reached its peak, she suddenly gained a HUGE amount of wait, and overall she had a massive writers block. It sad about SA, how she had to use old material - becuase she didnt have any

However, I think it became really exciting for her in the late 90's with The Dance, which I think sparked TISL!!!
