She sure loves bringing up his kids. I don't think there's as much emotional distance there as she would lead us to believe.

I think I see what Dani is saying. Stevie's affection for his kids could help her keep her emotional distance from him. I think its a really good interpretation of the situation that I hadn't given much thought to in terms of the comment she made...makes a lot of sense.

And as far as The Dance goes...I think there was a lot more than loose strings going on

Agreed, completely. But when you think of her entire "when he had his first child, I knew we were done" comment, it just totally makes sense. I think she's trying to be a respectable, "ladylike" woman and save his kids from the emotional drama in which would be her open pursuit of their married father.

This band truly is one huge soap opera.

So, when the kids are grown, Stevie might step in and kick Kristen to the curb. She'll be 73 by then and he'll be 72. I hope she still has it and that Lindsey still remembers what to do with it.

It is a soap opera, indeed. One they created.

So, let's think about her statement. When Will was born she knew "it" was over... not when Lindsey was dating Kristen, or became serious with her (remember the backstage comment she made to a fan how Lindsey was practically married), not the day she found out Kristen was pregnant or even the other nine months of said pregnancy...but the day Will was born.

My, my, my...

Oh, and Joe Walsh is the love of her life.

I think I've said this before - or something similar, at least - on the board, but the reason I feel that Stevie says Joe Walsh is the love of her life is for the same reason Dani put forward: emotional distance. Nobody wants to look as though they're still enamoured with their ex-boyfriend while he's in another relationship. It makes them feel vulnerable and desparate. However, I think Stevie thinks that if she keeps saying she loved Joe Walsh the most that Lindsey might get jealous, despite being married with children. After all, one of the main goals for both them still is to score points of one another.

However, I think that Lindsey, like the rest of us, thinks Stevie doth protest too much.

I totally agree with you, Lucy.

And I literally just spit out my water when reading that, Michele.

I totally agree with this. I think this defines their relationship today. Seems to me that would make great fodder for new songs. (but i digress)

As for the kids, I actually find it strange that Stevie hasn't taken an interest. The kids are what could tie them together; if they can't agree on the music, surely she could relish being the magical fairy aunt who spoils the kids and entertains their fancies in ways parents just can't (and, thus, score more points against Lindsey). Although, now that I just wrote that out, I guess I know why Lindsey (or Kristen?!) has banned Stevie from the house. But all these mentions of Lindsey's kids (and her keeping count on house visits) suggests that the decision is NOT hers.

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but when Stevie mentioned never visiting Lindsey's house, I was pretty surprised, because I'm sure, sure, sure I read/heard somewhere that she'd said around the SYW tour that she was so close to Lindsey now, got on so well with him, that she'd gone in vacation with him and his family. I hope I'm not going mental, and will try and find the quote, but I'm sure I read that. And, if it is true, she was either lying then. Or she's lying now. How can she go on holiday with him, but never pop to his house?

On BBC4 last night there was a Rock Tree special on them that followed the repeat of the doc, and it was so old that a) Stevie had just quit the band and b) (for those who knew of him) John Peel was alive. Either way, the interesting thing I took from it was that she sounded just as bitter now as she did then. She still had a scathing tone when she spoke about him, and, aside for that thing that she wore on her head back then, I wouldn't have known so long had passed. Her attitude towards him is still the same.

I love her an' all, but she needs to get over it now.

Stevie knows exactly what it's like to be around Lindsey and his children.

"It's girl world...he has a little boy - he's very quiet and so he and Lindsey are like definitely you know, in the corner."

She's also talked about him taking his girls to ballet and basketball practice.

And, this is a great quote about how the kids perceive her...

TCR: What do Lindsey’s kids think of you? Are you like the crazy aunt?

SN: They like me a lot. They totally get it. You know, they’re in the dressing room saying, “Can I wear that cape?” or “I need to put on those boots!”

That is friggen adorable. I bet it's those daughters. They look like little divas-in-training. I imagine the son probably couldn't be bothered but the girls, Leelee in particular, will probably break out into a full-blown chiffon head in a year or two if she hasn't already.

Yeah, Stevie. Quote that line to LB again from that song of yours: "You'll never get away from the sound of the woman who loves you..." Now he's living with a bunch of mini Stevies every day.

No, she never said she went on vacation with Lindsey and his family. She did say that about Mick and Lynn though. I think she said she goes shopping with Lynn too. During SYW she did say that even though she's not their aunt, she insists on having a relationship with Lindsey's children. I think she did spend time with Lee Lee back then during the tour and I'm sure she's spending time with Stella and Lee Lee now, while they are on tour.
