Default Amended albums

Hi All,

Just for fun, if you could change any Stevie album (tracks, cover art, running order..anything you like), what would you do to improve it?

I pretty much think Bella Donna is flawless - apart from one thing. It's too short. So I'd do this:

Bella Donna
Gold And Braid
Kind Of Woman
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Think About It
After The Glitter Fades
Edge Of Seventeen
How Still My Love
Leather And Lace
Blue Lamp
Outside The Rain
The Highwayman

Similar situation with "The Wild Heart" - I'd add "Violet And Blue" between "Nightbird" and "Stand Back". I really want to add "Sleeping Angel" but I don't think it would sound right on that album.

Rock A Little - I'd replaced "The Nightmare" with "Mirror, Mirror".

OSOTM - Scrap "I Still Miss Someone" and have the album ending with "Doing The Best I Can" - one of my fav Stevie songs. Also, I can't STAND the cover. WHAT the hell is she doing? So I'd prefer this:

Photobucket

I also REALLY wish Crystal Visions had been released as a 2CD set with the complete Very Best Of on it - so many tracks missing - If You Ever Did Belive, Whole Lotta Trouble, Blue Denim, Everyday, Nightbird, Beauty and the Beast, Sometimes It's A Bitch etc.

As for Street Angel, I'd prefer it if the single edit of Blue Denim had been used and "Gods Garden" and "Inspiration" replaced "Jane" and "Just Like A Woman". The cover art is also pretty bad but I can't think of anything to replaced it with. Any suggestions?

Anyone else got any?

Street Angel
Let me put some 30 seconds of effort into the cover and let me change the typing. I would change the song Gretta into Greta (anyone wanna buy a T?) and change STREETANGEL into Streetangel on the back, so that someone can read it.

Sheesh, when that one came out, I thought i would look at a cheap ass bootleg. To some degree, it even sounds like one.

You must be talking about the Japan import ... the extra T in Greta and the all caps making it hard to read isn't so on the US version ... but yes, who looks over these things? Bad bad bad

It is the german version, I bought it in a regular german store for the regular price. And I'm still fuming over that. We european fans meant nothing to Steviels record label.

I think I would do pretty much the same... Blue Lamp definitely should have been on Bella Donna, but I think Gold and Braid would be too upbeat for that album so I'd put it on the Wild Heart instead of I Will Run to You.
I'd also definitely change the cover to OSOTM because it is just terrible. The cover you've done there is actually pretty nice!

What? Wash your mouth out! TOSOTM is one of the sexiest Stevie album covers!!!

(My wife who hates Stevie with a passion made the following comment about the TOSOTM cover "Oh just l0ok at her sitting there with her legs spread open, typical Stevie!")

Bella Donna isn't quite flawless to me. I'd simply change the order of two songs ..

Bella Donna
Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
Kind of Woman
Think About It
After The Glitter Fades
Edge of Seventeen
How Still My Love
Leather and Lace
Outside The Rain
The Highwayman

After the semi upbeat title track, I think the album should keep the upbeat flow going, having KOW after it just sort of makes the whole thing sink to me .. So again, just flip those two and its all good :-)

-

If you're listening to The Wild Heart via the album or cassette tape (which is what we did back in the day) WH is flawless from start to finish (I'm all about the flow of the songs) however, with the CD, having Stand Back right after Nightbird doesn't work. They both have that drum synth sound and SB is actually a slower song (beat per minute wise) than Nightbird and it just doesn't sound good. A song needs to be in-between them. So for the album and cassette tape, WH is fine, but for the CD, I would have put "Garbo" in between them.

Rock A Little, like BD, RAL is almost flawless. Again to keep the upbeat flow going, I would make Sister Honey 2nd and RAL 3rd and keep the rest of the CD as is.

The Other Side of the Mirror is probably the best sequenced Stevie CD, I wouldn't change a thing with the running order however, I do like the idea of the back picture being used for the front.

Timespace is perfect to me, much better flow than Crystal Visions.

Street Angel hmmm, how much time do I have? Not crazy about the artwork .. The promo pics of Stevie in the long black dress that came out during this time would have looked better I think - or the outtakes of Stevie in the white dress with candles that I saw posted here a while ago. Anything over what was used ...As far as the music - the songs simply needed the same touch that the 4 songs from this CD have on Enchanted (where you can actually hear and understand her vocals better). I would replace Docklands with "Thousand Days" (the one that was on one of the import CD singles.)

Indeed!
I still think "Violet And Blue" should be on there. There are so many Stevie songs that go un-noticed to people who aren't die hard fans

We still don't. If we did she would at least have played a handful of European gigs since 1989, but no. This really, really annoys me.

As for the albums thange, I'd drop I Still Miss Someone from Other Side of the Mirror and do something, anything, with the Street Angel artwork. It's God awful.

I also completely agree about the earlier post regarding Crystal Visions and its weird tracklisting. This could have been done so, so much better. I only bought it because of the dvd, which could have been released on its own anyway. As for that, where os the Rooms on Fire video?! It really needs to be on there.

This is hard because there are so many songs that didn't were on the records that I think would be great to have on the records...as you have already said...there's soo many songs that are soo good that could have replaced the less good songs that were on the records, like any of her demos could have replaced the cover of I Still Miss Someone on OSOTM, I think. And she could've add more demos on the albums to make them longer
