Eh, they managed several highly successful seasons outdoors back in the late 60's-early 70's.

LaRussa is an overrated manager with a MAJOR drinking problem. I fly out of Oakland Int'l at least once or twice a month, and I've seen him in the lounge at least 6-8 times over the last couple years- either being loud & overly jovial, or with his head down on the bar.

Sure, there was Kirk Gibson and his awesome HR...but they also had Orel Hershiser for the rest of the series...both as a starter AND he even did a relief stint or two. He was INCREDIBLE that entire year...reg season AND post-season.

Is it just me or as he gets older, isn't Tony LaRussa starting to look more & more like Johnny Cash??

Thumbs up Yesss!!

GOOOOOO PHILLIES!!!!

I wasn't nervous at all last night. Yeah, right, I was biting my nails, but the Phillies pulled it off. It's on to the Dodgers & a little better weather.

The Phillies are headed for a Los Angeles buzz saw! It's Dodgers and Angels this year.

I thought I read that kind of posting last year, yet the Phillies dispatched the Dodgers in five games. The Dodgers have never faced Cliff Lee, and the Phillies still have '08 NLCS nemesis MVP local SoCal native Cole Hamels. I'm not scared. The Phillies have the best road record in MLB this year, they don't care where they play.

If there is "divine intervention", then it will be the Philles, and Angels for the WS.

On April 9, 2009, Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver in a car crash. Four days later, 39 year Phillies broadcast veteran Harry Kalas passes away before a game with the Nationals in Washington. Both teams erected memorial walls in their outfields. Both teams went to touch the wall in tribute after they clinched their league division.

Since Joe Torre signed a deal with the devil to make the Yankees great again, and ended up winning 4 WS Championships out of five years, only to be embarrassed in '01, and '03. I don't think Torre can work the same magic with the Dodgers. Just like last year, he made one too many moves and it ended up killing the team, thank you Matt Stairs.

The Dodgers were 4-3 vs Philadelphia this year and that was without Manny. He's back plus home field advantage (and 5 pm local starts)

The Phillies faced red-hot Manny last year, and won. He's not the same player this year. A local Philly sports radio station asked for a simple sign slogan against the Dodgers. The winner was:

"Manny isn't Manny without a shot in his fanny!"

Seriously, Man Ram isn't going to win the series for the Dodgers, it's Andre Ethier. That's the guy the Phillies should fear the most.

Even if the Phillies lose this series, I don't care. I saw greatness for the second time in my life. Yet there is something about this Phillies team that has the heart of the Yankees in the past decade. It's really uncanny.

That's a good one. When the series goes to Philly somebody will put up that sign.

I can't believe the Phillies won that game despite Cole Hamels. He did a serious baseball no-no by raising his hands during that botched double play that would've killed the first Dodger rally. You don't show up your teammates like that.

I also can't believe I saw Brad Lidge circa 2008. That's good news for me.

Dodgers even now after Phillies go through five pitchers in the eighth and WALK in the winning run. On the down side...Many Ramierez pops up with the bases loaded in the eighth

I doesn't help that Chase Utley has now developed Steve Sax disease at the worst possible time. He never makes bad throws on double plays, I wonder if his shoulder is hurt. Phillies get the split away, that's what they wanted. Today's game was playing with house money.

Yet if the bullpen keeps this up, the Phillies have no chance. What a waste for Pedro.

I remember Sax...played 2nd for the Dodgers in the 80's. Had trouble making routine throws to first.

It was a big surprise outing for Pedro. He was essentially out of baseball until hooking up late with the Philies.

Dodgers need to take two of three in Philadelphia, but I think the cold weather will hurt their game. It was 93 in LA yesterday.
