Hey, Yasser Arafat got one. It obviously doesn't mean much.

Fatah did more to resolve issues than Obama has even said he's going to do yet and we all know it was specifically a dual award for the progress and and Rabin made.

I have to say that I don't agree. Its not that I have a problem with Obama so much as considering the other people on the list who most likely have done so much more throughout their lifetime to promote peace. Not to mention when you look at other people who have also been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, it seems wrong that Obama would have been given the award. For example, the Dalai Lama. Doesn't it seem wrong that Obama would recieve the same honor as the Dalai Lama so early in his presidency?? Meanwhile, Gandhi was never awarded the prize (though he was nominated multiple times.) So Obama is more deserving than Gandhi was??? I just chose two really recognizable examples...there are so many more that illustrate what I'm trying to say.

Earlier in the video, the spokesperson for the committee speaks, and I was actually sympathetic to him because he explicitly acknowledges that the award is being given in hopes of influencing Obama's future actions. But as one former winner has said, "The Nobel committee is not meeting the conditions of Alfred Nobel's will, because he stipulated that the award is to be given to people who end militarism and war and are for disarmament."

I just kind of think it's too early in his term to be given this kind of award.

I'll be really impressed when he wins Country Music Entertainer of the Year, personally.
