I know....I don't think I've ever really imagined Stevie and Lindsey having sex till now...even though there's soo much passion and bitterness between them!

There was an article in Playboy sometime during the eighties. It was about some groupie chick who had sex with all these famouse musicians. She said that she and Stevie were, instead of sisters of the moon, were "sisters of the d#*k" because she and Stevie had slept with so many of the same men. She named a bunch but I don't remember exactly who. I think she may have mentioned Joe Walsh. She definitely mention Mick Fleetwood. She recalled a story of Mick going down on her on top of an amp or speaker or something like that. She said he was the best. Does anyone remember this article?

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I saw some old buddies in here (Oh my gosh, Sharon!) and the topic interests me - I know stuff about SnL fanfic AND her dalliances with Eagles! lol
Back in the day we had some rockin' hot fanfic. But, all good things must come to an end. About 2004 was when it kind of started to die. I never did finish that freaking novel-sized fanfic "Designs of Love." I've never heard Henley or Walsh admit to writing anything about Stevie. I've also never heard about Walsh going on Stern and saying he f--ked her a lot (although undoubtedly he did), but I have footage of him mocking her during a concert in 1991. Also, someone who heard the initial radio show told me that he called her a "road f-ck" on Howard Stern around the same time, but I've never heard that audio myself. However, he was pretty messed up then and seems to be on the right track now... sober since Hell Freezes Over and recently married to his fifth wife! Henley never said she had a bunch of abortions. Circa 1990, he said that she had aborted his child - or at least it was his child "to the best of [his] knowledge" - but that was it. I have not heard of this roses-every-day thing, but I have heard that he sent her 50 silver roses on her 50th birthday. I think he can be a douche and has been on many occasions, but he can also be a nice guy and they're still friends, so... what can you say? More good than bad about Mr. Henley, one can only assume. I've always thought "Life in the Fast Lane" sounded like SnL or at least Stevie. However, I heard "Wasted Time" was about another ex, and I've never even heard it speculated before that "The Long Run" was about her. I have to admit, though, that I've wondered about "Not Enough Love in the World".... still, no confirmation on any of these (except from Gary Hodges about LITFL). That song was written after or during Don and Stevie's "relationship" - she calls him "her first boyfriend after Lindsey" but the timeline doesn't really sync up.... in other words, it looks like she might have paid Henley a few "visits" before she and Lindsey were over for good, going back and forth between the two. According to Don Felder, Henley flew Stevie out to "visit" him many times when they were both touring, sending Lear Jets to pick her up. Ouch! No wonder Lindsey still takes digs at Henley and the Eagles 'til this day. "The Eagles are just in it for the money, not like Fleetwood Mac...." "Fleetwood Mac is a REAL band, not like the Eagles".... Bubba, where did you hear about the Henley songs? I would have to politely disagree with you that Henley has written more songs about Stevie than Lindsey has. Henley has never even admitted to writing ONE song about her! I do believe she inspired a few references, but I have no proof. Naila, I don't know if you were joking or not, but Dirty Laundry is not about Nancy Grace (although Henley dedicates the song to her occasionally in concert). It was much more generalized in its anger, and was written in 1981 long before Nancy Grace was a blip on the radar screen in the public consciousness. Both Walsh and Henley have not shared any wild stories about sex with Stevie. You won't find any quotes from them that echo what Dave Stewart said. I'm not saying she wasn't kinky; I'm just correcting the notion that THEY said so. Fun topic, even if it is a couple months old! P.S. On a somewhat related note - I saw this in another old thread but it was too old to revive reasonably, lol. Glenn Frey did not have a liver transplant in 1994. He had a severe attack of diverticulits which necessitated part of his colon being surgically removed. Just semantics, honestly, because he has admitted it was caused by too much partying! As for Henley being a cokehead... well, if so, he sure hides it well. He's never appeared coked up when performing onstage lately (I've read a lot of fan reviews) nor doing interviews. The last I heard of him doing coke was the early nineties. Last edited by sodascouts; 10-03-2009 at 03:53 PM.. |

Really nice post, Nancy, tons to think about in it. Regarding the 'bubble-head bleach blonde comes on at 5, she can tell ya 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye'---
my dorm-mate and I just 'knew' (strongly suspected) Henley was referencing LA newswoman Christine Lund. She was quite likeable, and did the KABC News at 5pm every day, and fit the description quite perfectly- Her eyes did gleam, and her head was quite bubble-ish, she was fun to look at! Gosh, this is like 28 years ago, I can't believe it. Christine did hard news, but also would do a lot of celebrity coverage (this was LA, after all) and it wouldn't surprise me if Don meant her, I still think it had to be her. I should do a YouTube search, I really liked Christine Lund, and apparantly, she had quite the 'life in the fast lane' herself that lead to rehab. I wonder if she's still on the air. I do think 'Miss Ghost' on Don's last solo cd had to be about Stevie. Quirky song. Lastly- I do think Don's 'Shangri La' - which was a great track on his 3rd solo cd 'The End of The Innocence'- got rather ripped off by Stevie- she took his idea and expanded upon it. 'This ain't no shangri-la' sang Don, it had a clever lyric that may also have referenced Stevie- a couple lines in it made me think of her, one went something like 'never thought you'd carry the weight of the world on your pretty blonde hair'. It could have been meant for any blonde Henley had in mind, but at the time, circa 1990, I thought it was Don singing about Stevie. It was a cpl yrs, I believe, that we knew 'Trouble In Shangri La' was going to be the title of Stevie's next cd, and I thought "she got that title from Henley's song," which I think was good enough to have been a hit single had it ever been released. Also, I don't think LB's that affected by Henley's "relationship" with Stevie. He dedicated "Big Love" to "Sharon, Don and kids" on "The Dance" tour in Dallas. And, he seemed to handle being around him just fine at the AHI benefit in 2000. Lindsey contributed to Henley's Building the Perfect Beast album in '84, playing guitar and doing harmony vocals. During press for SYW in 2003, Lindsey and Mick were doing a tv interview and the "Don sent Stevie flowers backstage incident" was brought up - to which Lindsey responded, "that would have been small potatoes in my book." ![]() ![]() However, I do think LB likes to use The Eagles as the antithesis of what Fleetwood Mac represents musically - and I would guess there must be a lot of inside digs of that nature floating around. He and Don actually strike me as a couple of guys who probably "get" each other pretty well... Last edited by CADreaming; 10-03-2009 at 10:59 PM.. |

CADreaming - you may very well be right about there being no hard feelings, and that the digs at the Eagles are more about Lindsey seeing them as a symbol of what FM isn't - it just seems odd to me that he would come to that conclusion. Fleetwood Mac is just as interested in making money as the Eagles are. You can bet your sweet bippy that if they thought they could command $200 per ticket as the Eagles do, they'd charge it. It seems somewhat hypocritical for Lindsey to keep pointing at them and declaring them to be greedier and less sincere, and one wonders why he does it. P.S. The small potatoes comment - LOL!! |

Interesting, Nancy, and you may be right that 'Shangri La' is a "public domain" kind of reference, it doesn't seem so, to me, but that doesn't mean I'm right
![]() Years before, I was also a little "oh, she lifted that line" when I heard 'timeless is the prisoner in disguise' in her otherwise uniquely-hers "Beauty and The Beast"--- the prisoner in disguise line I immediately traced back to my childhood and a songwriter I loved then, JD Souther, who wrote the song 'Prisoner In Disguise' which I admired a lot as sung by Linda R- I don't know if JD ever released a version of it. I really liked Stevie's gorgeous song, and the preceding line 'timeless is the creature who is wise'-- very nice...but when I heard her rhyme that with 'prisoner in disguise' I thought "that's not right of her to do"-- and the term 'prisoner in disguise' I don't think was in the American vernacular, was it? (US via Prague, for me), but I'd never heard it before JD Souther's title song, and for Stevie to put it in her song I thought was uncool...oh, one interview, likely on YouTube now, I recall Stevie, as she sometimes did, and does still, quoted a line of her own lyrics when responding to an interviewer's question, when in a tv interview circa 1983 she recited 'timeless is the creature is wise, and timeless is the prisoner in disguise'- and she did so with a great hushed reverence for her own poetic artistry. It was a bit precious of her, because for me, that line was JD Souther's idea. And 'shangri la' was Don's. I know she's thanked Tom Petty and Don for inspiration, so it's not that it matters a whole lot to me, I just notice things like intellectual property, as I think artists who really love their own writing do not borrow key words, phrases, or anything from another writer. That's different than 'inspiration', in my opinion. It's interesting to me, in terms of fair play, that Don lifts a trait of Stevie's on occassion: When being interviewed, he will sometimes quote a line of a lyric of his that he particularly likes ![]() I think it's goofy of them, both, unless, of course, the interviewer had asked: "tell me now, what is a lyric you've written that you love to work into conversations that you have?" ![]() (and I do think for certain it was Stevie who began quoting her own lyrics in broadcast and print interviews, before Don did it). |
