'This Is the Time' is probably one of the more experimental songs on that album simply for the fact that the vocals don't stay panned in the centre (not that that's a big experiment) and the effects over them. To be honest, nothing on OoTC really seems experimental to me. It's just a fantastic pop album.
To me, it's like miminist experimentalism. The echoing, "barely there" instruments and rain effects just seem quite quirky. Of course, in comparison to other Lindsey albums that would be the most accessible song on there. I agree about This is the Time, particularly the vocals in the chorus, but it's the most rock song there also. Whereas, the rest of the songs are pretty pop-py.

Out of the Cradle is essentially the most pop album he's ever made, but I think there are still signs of experiments on there, just not as blatant as say Go Insane.

Woah- SGCYM a standout? That's the second blandest song on the album [after Flying Down Juniper]. I think Show You How or (possibly) Under the Skin could be classified as "standout tracks."

LB has a great package of solo albums.. whether I like them all or not..

I always go chronological..... because you want the story in the order it happened...

Law and Order to me was LB taking his childhood influences and musing them into some pristine arrangements adding his quirks. The music threw me back into my mom's era. I love the guitar stylings on a lot of the tracks and I thought it was cool that Mick and Christine popped in to see him and perform, and get their photos in the album lol. (so english)

He wasn't going for a smash record, he didn't play it safe, and with songs like Mary Lee Jones, he definitely pumped up the energy. It's not 11 tracks of GYOW or Monday Morning, and thank God for that... This came out after Tusk, so I think it's important to listen to this one.

Just go from there... enjoy the journey...

It Was You in my opinion is the best song on that album.

SGCYM is actually my favorite song on the album... to each their own.

SGTCYM is a really beautiful song. I adore it, on the album, on his Soundstage, it's one of my favorite songs of his.

Not Too Late, however, is a horrid song I could very well do without. It's much better live but I recall not feeling too much pain when I came a little late to one of his shows and missed it.

As an album track, it's also my favorite. That's one where the vocal distortion combines with an orchestral approach to develop something rather movingly Beatles-esque! And Mick's presence is felt.

Fleetwood Mac helped me through a time of heartbreak. 12 years later, they broke my heart.

Out of the Cradle, definitely.
Actually I'm not a big fan of Lindsey albums, and the only one that I really was hooked on was OOTC. IMHO is his masterpiece, talking about solo works.

I know I'm in the minority but Out Of The Cradle has always been my least favourite Lindsey album. I've never liked the overly polished sound of the production or the fake drums. Apart from Countdown (just a great pop song) and Street Of Dreams (the rain effects, the lyrics and the guitar picking really appeal to me), I've always found it to be his most boring album. I would recommend every other album above it.
But even if I liked it I would still say go chronologically with his albums, starting with Law & Order. I think there's a lot to be said for hearing how an artist develops and evolves and every one of his albums is worth hearing.
