Actually this was the first time I saw Stevie live as a solo act as her San Diego show in 1981 was cancelled ..Great show ..she was so wild and energetic it really was the end of an era to me for Stevie ..that last tour before the coke and partying really started to take away much more than they gave.The pics on this one are Bella Donna era BTW.

I can see her going across the edge of the stage, mentally tabulating the stuff people hand to her, "Snoopy. Snoopy. Unicorn. Snoopy. Flower. Flower. Snoopy. Pineapple. Snoop - wait, what?"

Or maybe Stevie just enjoys a refreshing tropical fruit break between songs - when she's back there forever changing clothes, she's also snarfing a pineapple.

That's when they were taken, but they weren't used in any magazine articles from 1981. So at the time in 1983 or 1984 when one was reading the latest, greatest Stevie article, THESE were the photos used to accompany the articles as MODERN DAY pics of our Goddess. I will show more examples of this later. Isn't it neat to have someone like me who can remember back that far?
There is the possibility that some of these photos appeared in 1981 or 1982 publications. But none that I was aware of. I was very on top of the situation back then, in my collecting everything available on Stevie/Mac.

At some of the outdoor concerts Stevie has performed at over the years, either she or the promoter makes sure there are decorations on the stage to create ambiance. In the photos from Stevie's 1981 Compton Terrace Concert I can see several Palm tree plants on the stage. Perhaps that day at Colt Park Amph. in Rhode Island the stage had props to make it look like a tropical island.Afterall it was an outdoor show right next to the ocean. It probably had fake Palm trees with fake Coconuts. I'm sure the guy didn't get hurt. Stevie was prolly trying to make a point.

Probably, but my fake explanations are more fun.

I would like to see Stevie huck a pineapple at someone even if it was a fake pineapple. She'd be like Axl Rose, only with fruit. And then Waddy could take a page from his friend Keith Richards' book and whack a fan with his guitar. Good times, good times.

Yeah I kind of was as well .Plus in spite of all the booze comsumed by myself in the 1980s I still have a great memory.the photos first appeared in a Creem magazine article in late 1981 I cut one out and carried it in my wallet then.

I was 21 years old and I was at this show. After viewing the Stevie HBO Concert a thousand and one times I was excited for a whole new show with this Tour. You know how dissapointed we get with her current set list? Well this was my initiation to the basic same ole same ole with the setlist. It was the same basic HBO show with three new songs added in. But being there that night felt magical. It was my 4th time seeing Stevie. The 1st time was for Tusk and the other two were Mirage shows.

Well Mark, another show that we were both at, but did not meet yet. with CRS and all, I do remember being insanely excited about being there-I slept out on the streets of New Haven in front of Cutler's record store in the heart of Yale University-I ended up with nose bleed tix-My nosebleed luck lasted until 1998. Glad to have really met you Mark! It only took like 28 years!

I attended this show, and it was awesome! After the show, while walking back to the car, Stevie's limo passed us in the parking lot, and she was standing up in the limo w/ her head outside of the sunroof, like in the movie, "Big". The limo stopped right in front of me & my Mom, and I blew her a kiss, saying I Love U Stevie, she winked, blew me one back, and said I Love U too! We then ran to the car, and got behind the limo and followed them on the freeway (until they figured out we were following, and they losy us)....Took a while to get out of the parking lot as well, all the cars stopped, and was honking their horns at her while she waved....she cause quite a ruckus in the parking lot......great memory, something she'd never do later in yrs.

I saw a very early-in-the-tour'Wild Heart' show, when Stevie played solo at The US Festival in '83. It was magical. I've written about it many times, I'm sure at least once here, but it was life-changing for me. The first ever live performance of 'Stand Back', she said. Amazing energy, in really fine voice, and she for sure had a good buzz going, not to any detriment at all. Awesome version of 'Angel'- which I'd never heard live before, and everything she did that night seemed spontaneous, fresh, and from the heart. I loved when she had a wine glass in her hand and got back to the mic late during 'Stop Draggin' and how she yanked on Waddy's hair, and sang that song with the most fire I've ever heard her put into it. A killer 'How Still My Love'--- I have tons and tons of great memories of the show, and have had it for years on vhs then dvd and still watch it, remembering how sweltering hot it had been all day long, with planes flying over the grounds spraying water on the crowds to avoid anyone dying of the heat, and then how bitterly cold it became when night fell and we were all jumping up and down and hugging strangers to stay warm. Stevie was the next to final act- Mr. Bowie closed the show. He was great. Stevie was greater.
It was my first time seeing U2 who performed in the afternoon and I knew I was witnessing a band about to become huge- Bono was amazingly, amazingly, good. Lots of great music, The Pretenders were excellent that same day, and it still makes me proud of her that Stevie was the greatest performer of all at that extraordinary event that was The US Festival 1983.
