I'll be the age they are now when they (the band) are in their 90s.

Aww come on now. Once an artist, always an artist. Stevie may not be creating anymore... but...
Hypothetically... if Dali painted his last painting in 1978...and died in 1989 (which he did)... you wouldn't have said he was no longer an artist between '78 to his death, would you? ![]()

Exactly. And she actually is doing some of both to a very small degree. She sang a portion of the New Orleans Song in New Orleans earlier this year. So we know she's got new stuff. And she technically shared it. Judging by the crowd's reaction, the fanbase still very much would like to hear new songs. I hope she gets over her insecurities, and gets back to recording.

The first thing we need to do is to stop comparing Stevie to other artists of her time and age. I know it's human nature to want to put things in little boxes, but come on. People react to things in different ways, for instance after the klonopin years Stevie surely should have had a creative spurt from her because she is such a prolific songwriter. To cut a long story short, any inspiration for her when she's at her most creative tends to lead to a song. However, in between the seven years after "Street Angel" there was only one album of fully new material released - I do not count that God awful song "Sweet Girl" on "The Dance" as new material. Maybe she doesn't fully trust in her abilities as an artist anymore? Maybe she doesn't want to deal with the bull**** anymore? Who knows? By pitting her up against other musicians though we're only causing ourselves more despair. People work in different ways.

I would assume in the current industry climate, there is much discussion over the best ways to market/distribute new material for all artists - and especially vets. Seriously, when the majority of your audience may not be as hip to downloading - what's an artist and record label to do? I have no doubt that Stevie will be creating until she dies - in one form or another - but we may never hear new songs or know what other outlets she has found. I mean, for all we know, she paints all day or does flower arrangements or makes scrapbooks. And, frankly, I'm fine with that. It's just the nature of the beast. One of my favorite singers of all time has lost his voice and while I still hold him in the same affection, it honestly pains me to hear him sing any more. I prefer to remember him with the voice that in my opinion made him the best. Stevie is not naive enough to think that in her backside years everything she does needs to be given to the general public - which is why we had a "greatest hits" tour this summer. And, she was happy. I guarantee it. None of this means that Fleetwood Mac won't pull off one more album, however. They have alluded to it greatly over the past several months. What remains to be seen is whether it will be a repackaged deal with a couple of newbies thrown in for kicks or if it will be a full new album. Lindsey has said he would like for he and Stevie to write together - and for all we know they have already done that. So, I guess time will tell. I just want them to let us know if they are "done" so I can get on with my life. LOL. ![]() |

I thought Sweet Girl was much better than Temporary One or Bleed to Love her or that God awful song My Little Demon... I really don't like it...

I don't consider Temporary One and Sweet Girl songs though. When I heard those dogs, I did think it was over . It's funny because Chris said she had about 40 songs and she gave FM 10 to listen to and that was the one they chose. Huh? That's frightening. There were 9 other songs that were worse than that or did they just like the message in Temporary One? Did it remind them of FM's reunion, even though it wasn't really written about FM.Michele |
