1998 - Why Do Fools Fall in Love opened in U.S. theatres. “Three different women (played by Halle Berry, Vivica A. Fox and Lela Rochon) married Frankie Lymon. Now as they fight to get a piece of his millions, they will have to prove who married him first and who loved him most.” As CNN reviewer Paul Tatara summed it up, “"Why Do Fools Fall in Love" contains bad language, track marks, and a woman driven to prostitution. Rent the video, or, much better yet, buy the record.”

No one gets stabbed, no one is bullied, no one contemplates an abortion or suicide and no one ends up in a wheelchair. Not in this Degrassi special. This time, the usually angst-ridden cast gets to have some fun.

“It's a fantasy Degrassi ,” laughs Jake Epstein, whose character Craig in the long-running Canadian TV series left last year to shake a cocaine addiction in rehab. “It takes Degrassi into this insane Hollywood universe. It's crazy, crazy to see!”

In the new TV movie Paradise City: Degrassi Goes Hollywood , the cast leaves their Toronto troubles behind: Craig is living the good life in Venice Beach, Calif. Paige (Lauren Collins) works as a celebrity's personal assistant, but when she gets a big break in a musical, invites Ellie (Stacey Farber) and Marco (Adamo Ruggiero) to hang out at her Beverly Hills mansion. Unfortunately, the fame goes to her head, and Manny (Cassie Steel) decides to audition for Paige's role and heads to the City of Angels in a school bus “borrowed” from Degrassi High.

Throughout the film, heavy-handed fame-dropping gets under way quickly as the cast bump into notables such as celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, rocker Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, actresses Vivica A. Fox and Kelly Carlson, while filmmaker Kevin Smith makes a return engagement with his protégé Jason Mewes playing a key role. (Mewes gets the film's best line too, shouted at Paige the diva: “You're not a star, you're more like a circle.”) The perils-and-pleasures-of-Hollywood plot is terribly self-aware, and it's intentional. Many of the TV show's cast have already left for bigger things: Epstein plays the lead in the touring Tony-award winning musical Spring Awakening , Nina Dobrev stars in the highly anticipated fall TV series The Vampire Diaries , Aubrey Graham (a.k.a. Drake) is performing with Lil' Wayne and recently signed a record deal with his label, and Shenae Grimes is shooting her second season in Los Angeles for 90210 .

I remember when I thought Vivica A Fox was da bomb! Then she came on Dancing With The Stars and acted so ghetto, I was actually embarrassed for ever being a fan. So, I've shifted all that adoration to Vanessa Williams.

Vivica A. Cougar
Girlfriend’s on the prowl!
The National Enquirer is reporting that Vivica A. Fox has been spotted at the Sherman Oaks restaurant, Casa Vega, with many a young suitor on her arm!
Seems like that TV Land hosting gig gave her a little inspiration!
The source says of Vivica:
“She’s there almost every Monday night and each time she seems to be with a MUCH younger man. She’s put on a few pounds, but she hasn’t let it slow her down!“

Maybe Paris Hilton has her own way of stimulating the economy. Hilton rolled up in a pink Bentley for the launch of Candy Ice Fine Jewelry by Lucy Kilislian at Prego in LA the other night.
She headed straight to the gifting suite, where she picked up $12,000 in free baubles in just a few minutes. An insider said, "Organizers wanted to gift Paris a diamond pendant, but she begged and begged to take the matching earrings, too." The heir-head then mixed with the other partygoers downstairs for about 30 minutes, which she spent mostly tapping on her Black Berry.
She was put to shame by host Vi vica A. Fox, who chatted with other guests all night and refused a free $50,000 diamond bracelet she wore for the evening from Candy Ice, insisting: "I'll buy it myself from my next paycheck."

Right before the awards began I introduced myself to Vivica Fox and I told her that I would love to feature her on my women’s empowerment blog. She said that she reads a few blogs and asked me the name of mine. When I said “she-blogs.com” she then said “Ohhh I have heard of she-blogs”….I was shocked and happy at the same time LOL…Love it!

MC Lyte and Terrance J hosted the awards and they also honored Shanti Das (EVP of Urban marketing for Universal), Maria Davis (HIV/AIDS Educator), Vivica A Fox (Actress), Hill Harper (Actor/Author), Pat Harris (VP of McDonald’s Corp), and Malinda Williams (Actress).
They also gave scholarships to two young women towards their college funds.

We hear that the hosts for the new show (tentatively titled The Mix), are Vivica A. We caught up with Vivica Fox at the premiere of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" this week.

And her words of wisdom to Kanye West were: "Don't ever, ever, drink dark liquor on the red carpet!"

Sounds like she knows whereof she speaks, adding, "That liquid courage ... got the best of him."

She was glad that the incident was dealt with quickly, that it didn't become a racial issue and that Kanye apologized to Taylor Swift for interrupting her acceptance speech at the VMAs Sunday night.

And she gave some major love to Beyoncé for her swift response bringing Taylor back onstage to give her acceptance speech.
