In the early '90s, Stevie spoke often of wanting to patch up their friendship (or create a friendship to begin with) before she died, but not feeling as if it were ever going to happen.

Now in recent years, it's Lindsey who speaks of wanting to patch up their friendship, & she seems to be the one now who makes him doubt his ability to do so.

They've always been at cross purposes.
