I was in 5th grade when this awful event happened. My class had just returned from lunch and our teacher said she had some serious news to tell us. She asked us if we knew what the world trade centers were and most of us didn't. She went on to explain that 2 planes had crashed into both of the buildings and that there were also two more plane crashes that also caused serious damage. The teacher asked us if we had any questions and we all did. Some asked if people had died, the teacher said many had lost their lives. I asked if we would go to war (my dad is in the navy and was stationed in Italy at this time, I believe. I was worried he would have to go to war if the US decided to start one.) the teacher said it was a possibilty, and I started crying. I don't remember much after that. I went home and watched news for what seemed like days. It was such a depressing event, it chaged so many peoples lives.

On a side note, my father did not go to Afganastan. He did however go to Iraq. He didn't fight in the war. I'm not quite sure what he did do over there because there was a 4 year period where he was out of my life.. That's a whole other story. But today he is safe and living in California
