Post Presale #2 Postponed

I just got an email from the fanclub and it looks like the presale and subsequent general public sale have been postponed. No mention of when they will take place. Here is the email:

The promoters of the Fleetwood Mac tour have determined that due to the
pending potential conflict in Iraq, the presale scheduled to begin on 3/20
and the associated general public sale due to follow, will be postponed.

Carl Stubner, President of Immortal Records Music Division and the Artist
Manager speaking on behalf of Fleetwood Mac, said, “Based on the current
global situation and out of respect for those Americans, and their
families, who are called on to serve their country, we have decided to
postpone the next concert sales period. We think fans should not have to
choose between watching current events unfold or dealing with gaining
concert seats. We’ll resume our full ticketing presales and general sales
shortly, probably next week.”

Your Fan Club will keep you posted on the news and will provide at least 48
hour written notice prior to the resumption of presales.

We appreciate your understanding.

Regards,

Jonathan Todd

Ok, I can understand being postponed due to the threat of war, Especially IF they were to be touring overseas...But I have to question IF another reason could be at hand...Brian J.

My thoughts exactly! Seems a little late to pull the plug on the sale. Not that I disagree with the decision, but I would have thought they would have decided this before today. I don't think there was any question that we were going to be involved in a conflict with Iraq this week.

I guess the general public sale is the ticketmaster sale - which, according to the email, is postponed. Good luck trying to get a straight answer from the fanclub administration!!

Smoke screen! And shame on them for using a war to buy time. Pathetic.

This is what happens when shows don't sell well. I think FM certainly has respect for what's going on in the world but the fact of the matter is, none of the shows have sold out yet, have they? On the Dance tour they were gone. No this is just a matter of the management going back to the drawing board to figure out what the hell they are going to do now. Believe me, if they thought these shows were gonna sell out, they'd be on sale tomorrow, bombs or no bombs.

OK, I've been real quiet through alot of this fan club mess, but I agree with ya, gldstwmn.

If they thought the shows were going to sell out, we'd be getting e-mails about how important it is to keep a sense of normalcy and carry on with our lives.

All of this is making me just want to stay home. I never expected all this crap, and I know none of you guys did, either.

Mr. Todd can take this Fan Club and shove it up his big fat a$$!

Oh, and BTW, my credit card reversed the charges! hee hee!!
Boy, it felt good to reach into his pocket and snatch that money back!

yep, I checked on ticketmaster, and the general sale will be postponed one week, until next saturday, although the venue pre-sale is continuing ontil then. (it has offered me the exact same 3 pair of tickets over and over on every single search since monday - MADDENING!! - forget ANY pre-sale as far as I'm concerned!!)

strangely, three different tickets broker's sites today have a show listed on MARCH 27, thursday... what is up with that??

I think once the album gets out and the PR machine goes into overtime, the concert sales will greatly pick up. If I remember correctly, The Dance tickets went on sale well after the media blitz and the airing of the show and related shows (behing the Music, The Making of Runors, etc.) on MTV. So, we shalll see what happens then. Hopefully, it will be a good thing!

Also, are any other tours doing this wait and see thing?

Well the shows havent sold out yet, but they are the 2nd best selling tickets right now, right under the Eagles.....according to Pollstar....I think with the economy and all and the ticket prices this years concerts wont sell as well...but they definetely are not selling BAD..

Despite the fact that that huge sucking sound you hear is all the fun being sucked out of this for me by the fan club farce, I am going to try and get tickets for the Atlanta show in the gneral public sale, whenever that may be.

I guess you guys do make a good point that the PR hasn't really started yet, so maybe that is what is up.

I swear, it's hard to know who to listen to.

The second best for the week... If you notice there were no actual figures released, were there? The Eagles aren't selling buckets right now, either. If I hadn't actually witnessed this sort of thing first hand than I would be disinclined to believe it myself. The shows aren't selling that well right now. I mean, c'mon how many times are people gonna buy overpriced tickets to see "Hell Freeze Over?" Did you also know that Irving Azoff (the Eagles manager) has an interest in Concerts West, who is producing both tours? I mean no disrespect but believe me, what I'm saying is true. If they thought those tickets were going to sell they would be on sale tomorrow. This is the second time this pre sale is being postponed. It also takes some of the heat off of the fan club's debacle. I'm sure they expected things to just blow over by now and well, once again, they've underestimated the fans.

I'm sorry Sharon, I don't want to take all the fun out of it for you. Hey, you got your money back though!

Yaaaay Sharon! Way to go.
Was that for the fan club fee or for the tickets (or both)?

Thanks for the cheers, you guys!

glddstwmn, YOU aren't taking the fun out of it, it's the whole fan club/ticket thing. I'm sorry if that's you thought!

ERigby, it was the fan club fee only. I have decided not to even try to get tickets through the fan club presale, because I think I can do better during the general public sale.

I mostly feel our intelligence has been insulted and greatly underestimated by Mr. Todd and company.

It doesn't take long lurking on these boards to discover that FM fans are some pretty resourceful folk, right? lol!

I sure think we know our way around pretty well!
