Someone PLEASE settle an argument for me

Ok. First, I've been lurking here for a LONG, LONG time. I'm looking forward to getting back in the swing of things with the new album but anyway. I need you guys to please help me settle an argument.

I don't know if any of you participate in the newsgroup alt.music.fleetwood-mac.net, but there has been an upraor over presale passwords. Allow me to give a brief recap.

Basically, some people were discouraged that people were distributing the internet presale password amongst themselves. I casually remarked that I received the internet presale password in my Pittsburgh Penguins (National Hockey League Team)'s official newsletter. The internet presale password was included as a cross promotional blurb. It has been a long-standing tradition, as well as being good business sense, for the Pittsburgh Penguins to promote events in the arena where it calls home (the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh).

After I casually mentioned that, I was FLAMED to no end by some of the other participants on the newsgroup. The posters in question called me a "thief" and "immoral." They called me these things because I apparently "ripped off everyone who joined the fan club by stealing the password."

After some jockeying back and forth, my interest was genuinely piqued as to just how the internet presale was/is run. I emailed the Mellon Arena last night, asking them exactly that question. how is the internet presale run in regards to the fanclub? Are the Internet Presale password and the fanclub password two different things? Here's the respone I received:

Jason - We are comfortable in this case speaking on behalf the tour management for Fleetwood Mac because we had similar discussions on this topic last week. The pre-sale that ran from Wednesday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 12 was exclusive to members of the Mellon Arena CyberClub and friends & corporate partners of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The password for this pre-sale was, indeed, entirely separate from the fan club pre-sale, which ran from Thursday, March 13 - Friday, March 14. Also, the tickets that were available to the Arena/Penguins users and the fan club users were in different areas of the Arena. While all price levels were available to all users, prime seating areas of the Arena were held back and only opened to the fan club users, as they paid a premium membership fee for such a privilege. Any issues that Fleetwood Mac Fan Club members have with the pre-sale handling can be directed to this website and we'll take care of them. Thanks for your patience and we hope you enjoy the show!

So as you can see, the internet presale which I used and the fanclub presale passwords (I've never taken two steps towards the fanclub) are two different things entirely and as such are treated as two different presales. After showing this to the poster in question, he/she still refuses to back off of calling me immoral or a thief.

Will someone (marty I'm looking in your omnipotent direction

) PLEASE back me up here?

Why cant' this person understand that the internet presale and fanclub presale are two different things? Do the fine people here understand this?

The funny thing is I used the internet presale password to get the last level seating in the house

jason, you're best bet is to move on, you know you did right or you wouldn't have been comfortable printing your entire story on a completely different forum so believe in yourself.

talking to people over the Internet is tough, people react and say things in ways they would never do face to face. You'll meet many people who will disagree with you, harshly, on your Internet journeys. Toughen up your armor...you don't need a bunch of Ledgies to back up what you know in your own heart to be true.

and enjoy your seats, you survived your trial by fire so you've obviously earned them!!!

I was just wondering what some other people though. Plus, the whole fiasco kind of made me curious as to how these are run.

And yeah, I've dealt with far worse than him on the alt.music.who newsgroup as you can probably imagine. I know how it goes.

I don't really have anything to add, in regards to your question (although I definitely think the folks on the newsgroup owe you a huge apology)... I just wanted to say hello to another Pittsburgh area Ledgie.

...completely insane. I'm beginning to wonder if there was any truth to "dreamer's" post at all, or if she was just another troll bugging everyone on the newsgroup. There is no way someone could honestly say the things she said and be honest about it. I mean, saying that Mick Fleetwood WOULDN'T do almost anything to make a buck! Please, Mick would sell his arms and legs on EBay if he could profit from it. And then going on to say that the Fan Club is free to join. Uh, yeah....dumbass.

And then after Jason posts the response he received from that management of the Igloo, she goes on to say that the letter was "probably fake!" Some people are just morons.
