What is your favourite "Tusk" tour version of "Sara"?

Black_Moon · #1 08-13-2009, 04:16 PM

Right, I'm sorry to request more of the Ledgies' good will. Here's how the story goes though.

"Sara" has been my favourite Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks song since the dawn of time - or mine at least

- but I have no live versions of it whatsoever. I only joined The Ledge just over a month ago. So, as I don't have any live versions of it, and I adore how Stevie performed it on the "Tusk" tour, would anyone be willing to post their favourite live version of it.

I'd be so grateful you wouldn't believe it.

Thank you!

P.S. Could be 'cause the thread title's misleading though. No idea how to change it though.

Lucy-

I can totally help you out with this, girl -- I'm a little preoccupied with this live Rhiannon project...

This will have to do until I have time or someone else can help you out!

From St. Louis, MO - November 6, 1979 - perfect quality:

Enjoy!

Hi Lucy! I can't say that I have a favourite live version, but I'll have a looksy. As a start you might check out this thread from the Rumours section--there are oodles of files for download (demos, outtakes, live, etc). I know there are several Sara files.

Thank you Alexa and Jennifer, you two are brilliant.

For my money, the best one I've heard is on the 2-disc Fleetwood Mac Live release. I'm pretty sure it's the St Louis version with additional vocals recorded in post, so it's not exactly live. Still, I think it's the most beautiful version.

I love that version, Stevie sounds gorgeous on it. And she extends the end lyrics, which is why I love live versions of "Sara".

Melbourne, AU. Thanks Amber.

My favorite is . . . I don't know. Something from August, as usual.

I like the Forum show best, next to Mobile of course. I think it's the clearest quality show I have other than it.

If anyone has anymore Tusk tour versions of Sara, please share them with me! This song is my actual obsession.

I've got the Hollywood Bowl one, the Chicago one, and the St. Louis one off this tour.

I only have three songs from the Mobile show. If anyone ever feels inclined to post the whole thing...

Lucy~

I found this one in my stuff, but all I know is that it's from 1980 - so you may or may not already have it:

Sorry I don't have any info on it... it's off of the huge compilation called Dragons & Mirrors and all the info I have is "Sara (Live, 1980)" Ha sorry!

Thank you so much Alexa! I'm downloading now. Maybe someone who has a fantastic ear (hint hint, David) will be able to listen to it and attach a date and place to it?
