Already sent this over to the rumours threads, but thought I'd pop it on here as well, if you want to discuss his version..guitar sound wise.

This makes me hurt in the worst possible way... I hate his voice. Maybe it's just because I'm so used to hearing it sung (well) by Christine. I don't like the guitar tone either.

Heck, I wonder what Lindsey's take on the original Little Lies would be. I don't think I've ever heard him talk about it. Although I do remember him saying he thought Christine's Tango work the best of her career, in general.

I don't like the guitar tone at all. It still should be done with a keyboard.

BUT, that being said... Rick Vito did an alright job with the song back in '87

I wonder what Christine would think of this? She'd probably get a laugh out it.

Although I don't really follow any of the American Idols, I like and respect David Cook. I think the arrangement of the song was great, and it was a great performance. He made it his own.

My problem with it was the appearance of Adam and Kris. It was sort of awkward and rather useless to bring them out to sing such minor parts.

I am not a fan of this. I listened to it once, which was fine, but I don't think I could do it again. I think I am a Fleetwood Mac snob. I just have a really hard time handling covers of their songs done by other people. But to his credit, it wasn't bad. It just made me think of Christine all of a sudden and get sad, haha.

Aside from being sad...
Did the thought ever cross your mind that someone covering her song is an immense honor to her talent, and is evidence that her legacy lives on, influencing current/newer generations -- in this case, a musician young enough to be her grandson?
Don't be sad, be happy!

I agree 100%.

Cook (last year's Idol-winner) has been performing Little Lies as part of his regular set. However this performance is will reach a much wider audience because of Kris Allen (this year's Idol-winner) and Adam Lambert's (probably more famous than either winner) appearance. Use the opportunity to tell the children who originally recorded the song.

I consider this performance (and Cook's duet with Carrie Underwood on Go Your Own Way) a possible gateway drug.

Too bad Cook didn't do this during the song. I didn't like how he broke the flow of the song twice to introduce the band and the two idols.

I love the 3 voices in the studio version of this song - they had three singers up there but I don't think they made the best of them.

I posted a video of this the first time he ever covered the song (at his album release in November) and it didn't get very good responses. Glad to see the opinion has changed a bit as I quite enjoy it myself and as a fan of David's, I'm really excited that he chose a FM song to cover. I actually told him so when I met him and he responded by placing his hand over his heart, patting it and grinning.

looks like the version you posted has been improved on alot, David is good at adding his guitar part, and his voice is better, not so shrill. Of course, now, if you add Kris/Adams new found fans in the mix, plus the fact it was broadcast on a widely watched tv programme and more easily accesable on youtube, then thats a load more people listening, watching and possibly questioning, where the original comes from. Can't be doing any harm, at least.

My goodness. Designlumberjackrockers thinking that singing "tell me lies tell me sweet little lies" is rock'n'roll? Man, this is amazingly brainless and tasteless.

I've heard people think this is RAW. It isn't. It's even slicker and more designed than the original, that already tops the championsleague of slickness.

Barf against the wall.

yek.
