Default Buckingham Nicks

Since Stevie and Lindsey cant be ****ed to release this excellent album (and also blocked the release of a load of rare tracks), who has the best "copy" from vinyl?

I have heard some awful versions (too fast, too much treble etc) and some people were actually cashing in on them! I've got a pretty good set of mp3's, but you can definately tell it's from a ye olde album.

So... who has a really high quality version - perhaps yoinked from a perfect vinyl using top notch software and sampling?

Stephen

p.s.

For the record (no pun intended), I would be first in the queue if Stevie and Lindsey released a bumper CD featuring the album and extras and maybe some of those live tracks. Why dont they give the project to someone or even just give the album away online - they dont need the money!

I'm no expert on quality, but I think my copy is basically perfect.

"08 Frozen Love" is wrong but I don't know how to get it out of that folder-- just download the rest.

They've both stated that it will be released. Lindsey actually put a time on it last year, saying "the next couple of years". I'm sure there are all sorts of managerial and marketing strategies that will be or are being planned. Isn't it interesting that they've been playing a new version of "Stephanie" over the pa prior to the FM concerts this tour?

I think the time window for getting BN released has come and gone. For one thing, CD's are quickly dying along with the music biz in general. Secondly, neither Lindsey nor Stevie have anywhere near the visibility they enjoyed even ten years ago. And this is an album that most people have never heard, and as good as it is, it is not chock full of radio-friendly hits.

That being said, I think the only way to make this CD release a real event would be if they re-recorded every song, with the same musicians and producer, and also included the original album as well in a 2 CD set. If you think about it, Stevie's done this (re-recording old songs) already with the Soundstage Sessions CD. Oh, and they should re-shoot the front cover today in the same pose and (lack of) outfits! Even Michelangelo wouldn't have the stamina for that airbrushing job!

And since Lindsey has less hair now than he did then, we'd be seeing a lot more.

You're assuming that they've managed to defy gravity these past 35 years or so...

Considering how much Stevie hates the original cover (one of the things that has delayed the re-release).....that AIN'T gonna happen!!!

Agreed. The best thing they could've done, IMO, was to have had it released around the time of Enchanted. You've got Long Distance Winner on that box set and it's so wonderful, for the life of me I'll never get why they didn't release it off the back of that. Didn't they ever realise that fans would want to hear more? I certainly did. I had to wait years before I could download the album, and a further few before I could find (and afford) the LP on the internet.

I'm not sure about re-doing it, but if they spruced it up, added bonus material, and - here's the killer - played some of the stuff live, then I have no doubt it'd be popular, at least with us. It's a great album. It needs to be heard.

Lindsey seems to be aware that that needs to be done in order to push the album. He even mentioned the idea of a BN tour to promote it. So, they have marketing ideas, even if they never come to fruition.

Indeed. Today, it may be his elbows that are posed strategically for modesty's sake, rather than his head.

They ought to release it with bonus tracks and then go on a strictly Buckingham/Nicks tour...more acoustic, in smaller venues where they play all (or most) of the tracks from the album, plus some solo stuff and the biggest FM songs (ie. GYOW and Rhiannon), and tell some stories about the songs and their history. If it was marketed properly as this kind of 30+ year, full circle love story things, and came out when the world wasn't in a recession, I'd like to think they'd do alright.

But what do I know?

I was visiting buckinghamnicks.net one day and went to play the tracks, but instead of simply playing, they started downloading.... so I'm thinking my copy is fairly solid!!!

This is pretty much what I was thinking! But maybe that is just my little shipper heart talking... I mean, geez, It could just be her and him with the guitar for the majority of the show. Can you imagine "Frozen Love" and "Crystal" in the same set? I might die...

Me too.

Of course...it would require her to remember the words to Frozen Love beyond "You may not be as strong as me/I may not care to teach you"

But hey, that's what teleprompters are for

If they did this, I would die. And go to heaven.
