Believe it or not I've never jumped up and down over "Talk to Me."

I'm hoping to someday go to E-bay and find the paper napkin Stevie wrote this song on.

"That Made Me Stronger" was also a "What was she thinking?" moment for me.

Stevie didn't write Talk To Me. The paper napkin song is Edge of 17, at that time written as Age of 17.

I couldn't say it better. You are so right about the placement of that song in the album's running order. It's not unlike the placement of Murrow Turning Over on the Say You Will album. What the heck are they thinking???

I wasn't overly keen on Talk To Me for quite a long time but suddenly..it spoke to me! Haha! Now I really like it. It's I Can't Wait that I've never managed to love.

I agree about That Made Me Stronger. It's ok but definitely on of the weakest tracks on Trouble In Shangri-La.

Yeah, I think Trouble in Shangri-La is a very strong collection of works if you pretend that "That Made Me Stronger" and "I Miss You" don't exist. There's other tracks that I have to be in the mood for ("Every Day", "Too Far From Texas", "Love Changes") but the rest I love.

But answer me this: how did all of those tracks get onto TISL and "Space Needle" didn't, especially since Stevie's been quoted to say that she selected the final cut hoping to create an album focusing on pain within paradise? Ughhhh that still aggravates me.

Lindsey: Not That Funny - More or less by default. I enjoy pretty much all of Lindsey's Fleetwood Mac material.
Christine: Sugar Daddy - Blah. A complete throwaway track.
Stevie: The Second Time - Not only is this a completely uninspiring song, but Stevie's performance of it is completely uninspiring as well. It doesn't deserve to be associated with the name Fleetwood Mac.

I must be the minority because I rarely skip over "That Made Me Stronger," it's so catchy! The chorus burrows into your brain and refuses to leave, I like when the two Stevies do their "WEEEEEELL"s. I'm easy to please.

The piano part she composed is very similar to that for "Say You Love Me" & "Station Man." But it's played most expertly -- most in the pocket -- on "Sugar Daddy." Notice how, even in the opening bars, she hangs behind the drum beat by a smidge, giving it a laid-back R&B quality.

Also, her B3 work -- never top-notch inventive in my book, as you know -- is at its most interesting here. She throws the speed up on the rotary & keeps it there, & plays single patterns in the higher registers, which is the tradition B3 attack in blues & rock. Chris also gets a mini-counterpoint going with two lines driving simultaneously but on different tracks in the organ part (probably recorded separately).

The song itself has a great melody line, & her very confident vocal is the star of all the white album vocals. (Both Lindsey & Stevie were better singers on the following album.)

Yes, she positively belts this one. Her vocal on this song, along with her contribution to World Turning demonstrates her R&B skills.
