I have a poster for this up in my living room - a reproduction on thick card. I got it in a tiny shop in Vegas a few years ago. It's not great but it was the first item of "memorabilia" that I got when I was really starting to get into her.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here was at that show, knows anything about it, or if there are any recordings floating around? Any information at all would be great! Just that this thing has been on my wall for ages and I suddenly realised it would be cool to know more about the show itself. It's (obviously) from the Rock A Little tour. Thanks everyone! Damn - sorrry, it's May 2nd 1986!!

That performance is on tape -- a lot of treble/high end but not enough bass.
It was taped by the same woman who taped the following night in Providence.

Cool! Is there any way to get hold of a copy of it? It would just be cool to have a copy of the concert that I have the poster for.

I was at the early-on-in-the-tour Hartford RAL show. She did open up with GDW, true. Hmmm, what else do I remember? I remember that she had a little set up of tambourines and shake-y things at her feet, she commented on the fact that if she's not careful she'll either trip on the tambourines or her monitors.
She introduced Bobby Martin as, 'the new man in her life' and made a swooning gesture. My friend's and I all took that to mean that they were an item, but now I think it was just a jokey introduction. I enjoyed the show, although the sound was pretty crappy where we were sitting, which was WAY up high and to the side of stage right. Oh yeah, lot's of shawls...more than I remember from any other of the RAL shows I saw that year. She had the 'tent' set up for her dressing room back then (it was a little room/tent on the Bobbye Hall-side of the stage that had heavy curtains as doors where she would pop in and out to change shawls and do other things that made her seem like she had more energy coming out than what she had when she went in). |

That was my first Stevie concert, I was 15 and I really don't remember much about it. There is a bootleg out there of the show, I have it somewhere. I do recall years later after hearing the show again that it wasn't as great as my memory said it was. The entire "Rock A Little" tour should have been called the "Coked One Last Time" tour.
I have the original review from the paper somewhere I remember how they trashed her voice and at the time that really bothered me. But after having listened to the show back I remember thinking they were right. By the way, that poster was done up years after the concert. It is not an "offical" concert promotion. |
